There's the original gag manga, obviously, and the other comics/manga like the Super Metroid adaptation with its odd introduction of lore we'd see in other material or the backstory manga with Zero Mission have their own charms, but they kind of meander into weepy melodrama a bit. So it's funny this wacky kid side kick adventure spin off just completely nails the idea of the galaxy trotting badass.

But because it's literally the most famous thing about the character, they keep having to insert author's notes about "Joey keeps calling Samus a he because he doesn't know she's a woman" every so often, just in case the reader is confused since every one of them probably knows it.So it's also pretty much the only one to maintain the original twist, at least for someone in universe.
