Although only having a short fight scene, I don't mind Fujirai's death as much as the others because it set up an (admittedly sudden, but I foresee this possibility since their introduction) inflection point in the relationship between Ha Ougyoku and Ka Mushou. Besides Kyarei, none of the other deaths set up anything really. You could argue that Ansatt may have just been a trickster with relatively low martial prowess, but his presence was largely trivial. Also Fujirai's sound effects were outrageous.

His actions not only saved the lives of several mooks but untold numbers had the demons been allowed to run rampant. It was as unexpected as it was awe-inspiring. In his darkest hour, what did Gunha-dono show himself to be? A goddamn hero. He's an exemplar of Urobuchi's masterful writing. That is why we fucking love Gunha-dono. Also he's an intensely fuckable silver fox.
