When they find themselves offered alternatives, they gravitate towards them because they're finally being allowed to choose. But, notably, Choufuu wasn't marginalized, and her hand wasn't forced. She chose it and dove in wholeheartedly

Everything he does after taking up the sword, he does for her--even if it distinctly isn't what she wants. He had been performing good deeds because that's what he was supposed to do, but didn't actually value human life in any real way. So, when 7BD came along and wanted blood, he had no reason not to supply it to her.Fuyou and Ryouga were right--leaving Shinkai alive was dangerous. It was a risk, because it was inherently gambling on him never straying from the path he was on at the time. But Shou was also technically right, in that there was always a chance that he wouldn't end up going down that route. And, if it hadn't been for the sword, he probably wouldn't have.

I get that she had to die at some point, and losing a season meant that had to be now, but I really think she would have ultimately opposed the demon king. Ultimately his method was wrong-- the demons that came closest to exhibiting humanity's superior quality of the soul were the ones that lived among humans. Ideally Kguy would have noticed her humanlike qualities and sought her own means to improve the station of demonkind.
