It isn't about it being 'good' or not. A story where there is no ending planned and every story is by the numbers wheel-spinning is never going to be a 'good' story. It is manga made for children, not high art. One day the mangaka will get get told to finish it, will rush the ending like every other manga ending, and it will crash and burn. The destination never mattered to begin with, and the 'drop in quality' was just you aging and acquiring more discerned taste that comes from maturing, while also being less willing to tolerate bullshit.
