Both of the groups tried to balance jokes getting inevitably lost in translation by making other lines funnier than they were in the original.Japanese sure has a cheat code for puns in the form of differently written homonyms. As he walks, robo-arms steadily disassemble his suit bit by bit and Tony never has to stop walking. It's just a really cool scene of a hero taking the suit off. Those kinda scenes are not only cool, they also draw more attention to making the world feel "lived in". Instead of the battles being inter-dimensional struggles for the fate of all the world by one set of god-like heroes against another set of god-like villains. It's one person doing what they can. The Iron-Man movies feel like one super rich guy trying to do his best, and frankly this level of focus means the writers don't have to try as hard. There's no multiverse or team of great hero's that the writers have to deal with. The scale is smaller, and so the story doesn't have to be as big. It's why Spider man shouldn't have a team. It's why he shouldn't leave NYC. He's your friendly neighborhood Spider-man, he's just a kid. There are some great ideas in capeshit, but fuck me if they weren't done to death 80 years ago

Manga wins because of its sheer volume, which means there's a million bajillion stories for all tastes. Comics in america have been shoehorned into a few limited genres from a few limited companies (it didn't use to be like that), and most webcomics are basically on the level of the doujin scene, but without the cultural leverage that doujin have.
