I saw many people with multiple pen lights, people wearing many of the official Prism Watches, and other goods that were tailored for each character. Some people even had the flower lights for Leo's Prism Show or the Prism Rainbow Guitar (a toy from Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live) to go with Yu's show! There are too many to list (laughs). >The TV series KinPri SSS was a great opportunity to delve deeper into the characters. Each of these dramas depicted deep human stories, but what are your thoughts looking back on the production now?
>>274976521Bad TL (2/)>Hishida: I was inspired to delve deeper into the characters in SSS because of the results of a fan poll from the end of the first movie. We were originally planning on making a show based around the character that won the top vote, but to our surprise we recieved a lot of votes! We decided that with all this support for everyone, we had to respond in kind which led to exploring each character individually in the TV series. I hate to admit it, but Joji was originally intented to be just a supporting character, but the response he got was enormous. I felt the need to give back to everyone the kindness I had received, and so his story came to fruition. To be honest, the story was so beautifully wrapped up in SSS that I felt it would be difficult to create any sequel story afterwards (laughs). >When you wrote SSS, were there an characters that took unexpected developments or setting changes?>Hishida: I have to apologize to everyone for this but... it's Alec after all. I regret that I may have included too much in his design with the statement "when he was little, he was slender, fair-skinned, and girlish." He's like a different person now (laughs). Nevertheless, we were able to create a variety of stories with different personalities and I feel KinPri has that potential to create stories that go in all sorts of different directions like that. >In the film, Joji's JOKER KISS was made into a 3DCG performance, what were your impressins when you saw the finished video.
>>274976562Bad TL (3/)>Hishida: Actually, I originally had no plans to make a 3DCG version of his show. However Otobe, CG director of TatsunokoPro, said "This has to be in 3D!" and so it was made into 3DCG like that. The end result was a show truly worthy of the Prism CHamp. The scene where Joji smile and waves makes me want to smile and wave my hand back at him. It's a really wonderful piece. The theme of Joji's show is "to simply entertain the audience". We asked to MoCap actors to focus on "making the people around them happy". >Dramatic LOVE was also newly made into 3DCG, why was this song given 3DCG now?>Hishida: It has been 8 years since this song was released in 2016. Actually, we wanted to show this 3DCG much earlies. However, when it comes to making a new video, we have to prioritize the whatever the current Septentrion live show is, so it was difficult to make Dramatic LOVE a priority. I really feel that "it has taken this long to turn this song into 3DCG....." So when KinPri was being brought back, I decided this was the first thing I needed to do and so we made the 3DCG version of Dramatic LOVE. However, I wasn't able to draw a prism jump for this time, so that's my homework for the future. I hope to be able to deliver it to you at some point.>The film involves traveling back in time in a time machine to watch their old performance of Dramatic LOVE. Was the time machine a device prepared to show this version of Dramatic LOVE? Or was it decided beforehand that the time machine would appear and the past version of Dramatic LOVE was created to match it?
>>274976601Bad TL (4/)>Hishida: I think the time machine came first... The basic premise of this project was that the KinPri story couldn't move forward unless we went to the 22nd century. So I had the idea of the time machine already, and at the same time we had plans to turn Dramatic LOVE into 3DCG, so I thougt "well, we have no choice but to go back in time for it." In the first place, the time machine was there to take us to the future, but first we had to go to the past. >How did you come up with the work's unique Prism Jumps and other mechanisms? >Hishida: There are many different people in the meetings for KinPri and most of them are not scriptwriters. So everyone would just talk about whatever they wanted (laughs). But it was all crazy and fun things so I somehow managed to incorporate them into the scenarios. They didn't read the mood at all and just tried to think of interesting things, as a result they came up with a lot of unique ideas that never would have come up from people working in this field (laughs). I listened to them while thinking "what a ridiculous thing to say!", but thanks to those ideas, the jumps in this film were made possible. >For example, what kind of ideas came up?>Hishida: The words "The Earth was yellow" in Hiro's jump in the 2nd film came up randomly during a meeting. We thought: How can we make the happen? You can't see that the Earth is yellow unless you go to space right? That's how we added things up and how we came up with it. For Taiga's giant fan, I was told that there's an established otaku culture of bringing uchiwa fans to live performances, but what if we fanned ourselves in the story too? I thought it would be fun so I decided to use it. >The honey-spreading in the Nijinosaki Bee Farm commercial, was it someone's idea to have OTR shine in it?>Hishida: They just starting glowing while I was drawing it. But when you apply honey, it usually makes your skin shiny and glossy right?
Bad TL (5/)>Speaking of OTR, the dream sequences that appeared in the jumps in the films were made into an admission bonus for this film.>Hishida: That was what I was implying (laughs), that this jump was real and not a dream fan fiction. (TL note: not 100% sure on this cause I've never got the meaning of "dream novel" and the answer is a play on that). We proceeded with the production of the film stuff without really know much about the reality of dream novels. I was surprised later to find out that it was that kind of genre. >Out of all the works you've done on KinPri, which show or jump left a particularly strong impression on you?>Hishida: I always wanted to create a show with the 7 of them so I get emotional every time I watch Nanairo no Chikai! -Brilliant Oath-. With 7 characters it's costly, time consuming, and labor intensive. It took us 4 years to finally complete it. Even after so many years, everytime I watch at it I feel so deeply moved and still think "finally it's finished.">Once again, please tell us what you think is the appeal of Prism Shows.>Hishida: It's the anything goes style without being too cool. While so many so called "cool" anime end up only looking cool, Prism Shows are full of laughter, tears, and unexpected brawls. It's anything goes. I think that kind of deepness is what makes it so appealing.>The production of a sequel has been decided, but how many of the so called fake previews are planned to come true and be used?>Hishida: Personally, I don't remember ever telling a single lie in any of the previews up until now! The only thing I wasn't involved in was the preview for Prism Show Best 10 so I don't know what that is (laughs). I have never made a fake preview! Please write that in bold print (laughs). I am working hard to make all of them a reality so please look forward to it.
