The romance is a slow blossom between two competent and strong-willed people against the backdrop of economics and an odyssey to bring Holo to a home that might not exist - poignant and well-written.
The Fable - a fantastic crime thriller with a rare (for anime) sense of dark, deadpan humour
Kaii to Otome to Kamikakushi - Representing a grand tradition of urban fantasy, lewdness, and social criticism that is core to the otaku subculture; compare to other standouts like Monogatari and Dandadan. It might be said that this show is the Best Culture since the ideas and aesthetics surpass its implementation.


Even Metallic Rouge and Shikanoko can't compete with Uzumaki's downward spiral from promising to complete shit, making this the first time an OVA has taken DOTY.
The cute boy show tries for best ED, but can't compete with the cute slime.

This is what the AOTY - Weighted field is for. It takes the total number of votes a show received (filtered to those who also filled out the Completed field) and divides it by the percentage of people who gave it a shot (completed + dropped). This equalizes the votes as if each show had the same viewership.
That makes it a bit more fair, but it also introduces inaccuracies from the lower sample size (a lot of people didn't bother with the completed fields) and has a tendency to skew extremely low viewership shows to unrealistic numbers.

The other Dungeon show and DDDDDDD skyrocket to the top.
There are no really silly results here this year, with even Natsume Yuujinchou in Fall having a healthy viewership backing its inflated score.

To account for this, I made new fields to filter out votes from people who didn't complete a certain number of shows per season. This should give results from only the serious fans without including all of those filthy casuals who definitely don't comprise a large portion of our board.
The main problem with this is sample size. Between the people who didn't fill out the completed field and those who didn't even watch more than 5 shows a season, we're down to 105 voters for the yearly ranking.
