You know...
for being an anime about anger and going against society's expectations, the music is the most conformist and family friendly rock I've ever heard in anime.
>>
Agreed, my band makes better angrier post hardcore and we're not cute girls.
>>
Based. Being depressed is cringe
>>

>for being an anime about anger and going against society's expectations,
You misunderstood the show then.
The main theme of the show is reconciliation.
>>
>>274956731
something something even criticism of coporatism gets subsumed by it and repackaged as a commodity to consume

Says a lot about our society.

That was my big complaint while watching the show. It's like a punk rock love letter without any of the punk.

I don't even think it had to be angry, but at least a little transgressive would've been nice.

No thanks, she looks like she scratches.
>>
>>274956833
Well they aren't raging against corporatism or capitalism here, so they don't have that built-in hypocrisy problem.
>>
I’ve always thought the show was about each of the girls’ individual struggles (but mostly Nina’s) and not an over encompassing critique on Japanese society or whatever so Togenashi Togeari never struck me as a punk band
>>
>>274960567
Momoka goes on about how her music isn't commercially appealing or whatever but all of her songs are cookie cutter pop rock, it's a clear disconnect in the writing for me. A story with multiple high school dropouts and them deciding to ditch the label at the end is already quite out of the norm for Japan too, it makes me question why Toei went with that narrative when the whole series is extremely commerical/manufactured in the opposite way that Togenashi Togeari is in the show.
>>
>>274960567
Yeah but toeing the line and keeping your head down is an integral part of Japanese society.
>>
>>274956902
Only Hina thinks this.
>>
>>274960622
>Momoka goes on about how her music isn't commercially appealing or whatever
She never said that.
>>
>>274960622
Toei probably wasn’t trying to make a statement about the music industry, they just wanted that kind of story + a 3D anime for their portfolio
The real life TogeToge feels like an idol band to me, with how they’re handling the PR, but they’ve stated they wanted the anime TogeToge and the real band to be two separate things so I can understand why they’re doing the things they do
>and you’re fine with that?
Yeah, the real band isn’t trying to be punk or at the very least, different from pop music, however they’re presented in the anime doesn’t really matter because of my point above

I smell a lot of samefagging here.

At least you'll get money and engagement from it.

That's why I'm pretty hyped for this anime, still pretty clean but a lot more interesting rock than the other band animes I've heard of
https://youtu.be/18dAsPbqohM?si=pm18JwMbwEX10Ils
>>
>>274963252
Dunno about "more interesting" but there is more anger and rage for sure.

People keep saying it's generic and yet it's insanely hard to find anything that gets close to hitting the same spot as toges songs.

It also just sounds like all you want is to strip any kind of emotion that isn't anger from their songs turning it into the most boring trying to be cool kind of rock simply so that it doesn't have mass appeal because you are insecure about that for some reason.

Nina gets to touch THAT?
>>
>TogeToge is generic
It's still plenty jpop, but some songs do enough with the key signature to keep it interesting, and as much as I detest people like Nina, her vocals really carry the songs. Maybe I'm just unga bunga speedbrained, but I appreciate the energy Ninners and Tomo bring to the vocals and keyboard.

Then again, I listen to American pop, too, so maybe my standards are just in the basement.

>>274961872
Right? Momoka just wanted to make her own brand of jpop/jrock, without the corporatist demands of "Hey you should dress like idols". Hell, VOID sounds more generic than a good chunk of TogeToge's repertoire, personally.
>>
Bocchi did it better, the songs in Bocchi were actually really good and really fitting, especially Bocchi's solos
>>
>>274956833
>even criticism of coporatism
you mean capitalism
>>
>>274966353
Why do you dislike people like Nina?
>>
>>274966580
Bocchi's solos are pretty good scenes and all, but the only thing BTR did better music wise is not having keyboard in their group.
>>
>>274966580
I have a bias towards some of the songs because some composers who worked on the songs I already know from elsewhere, but I prefer TogeToge’s themes overall
Plus the Kessoku Band songs that were not used in the anime kinda suck…
I’m not saying my opinion is objective, though
>>
>>274956778
>we're not cute girls.
you'll never beat Diamond Dust that way
>>
I'm gonna be honest, I never pay attention to lyrics in music
>>
>>274966856
She's overemotional in a bad way. She flies off the handle easily, stews in her grudges, and generally quickly drains the social batteries of people like me. I appreciate her character in the narrative, but I would not want her as a friend. Momoka is a saint for putting up with her bullshit at the start.

The mcs seem to be pretty based, one of them learned English from listening to rhcp, the other likes Metallica, and they're making an instrumental math rock band, their next song they play is this

No, I simply haven't watched it yet and assumed due to Toei mostly doing Shounen. I've got it downloaded for some time but my backlog is fucking massive, I'm currently catching up with Ninku.
But yeah looked it up now and the Anime is a Shounen so I assume it's due Yuusuke Tanaka mostly doing upbeat music. Didn't know that he composed Dramatic by Base Ball Bear, I love that song.
>>
>>274977934
Due to Toei doing a lot of Kodomo*
