Check One Pace, it's a fan cut of the anime that cuts the filler, but beware that their work varies in quality. Also they didn't use the best quality raws available for most arcs, but even with all the shortcomings it's still better than watching the original cut. So I've been buying into the "evil Shanks" theory for a while(not talking about Shanks' twin here), and I noticed an odd moment in the anime, where Marco says goodbye to the Red-Haired Pirates post-Wano, and Marco is randomly shown to make a weird expression after looking at Shanks while Shanks says goodbye.

Time stamp is 1:06. This might be a reach, but why would Toei add that, unless instructed by Oda? In the manga you just see Marco having a "..." speech bubble during the same scene. I also think Shanks is animated with a creepy face when he says goodbye, and his voice almost feels like it has a forced niceness to it. Anyways that's my schizo thoughts on this, I feel like it might be a hint to Shanks' true nature.

Unironically I enjoy both One Piece and Naruto, but One Piece is by and far superior. Naruto is like Linkin Park, great for when you want to re-encapsulate that feeling of being an emo teenager in the early 00s shitposting on newgrounds and watching some of the original dogshit AMVs and machinimas on Youtube. Whereas One Piece thrives if you enjoy lighthearted adventure stories with occasional dark and cruel twists.

One Piece is one of the best animes I've ever watched in terms of enjoyability. It's not the deepest story. It has a few annoying gags. But it's consistently funny, has strong emotional story beats and character arcs, and is just fun to watch.

The anime itself declines around episode 700 or something. In my opinion the peak is the first 400 episodes or so. But by then you'll have fallen in love with it.

For context I only started watching this a year ago, and had no interest in the anime until I watched the Live Action. Live Action got me invested in the characters, and turns out the characters are even better in the show itself. So maybe try the Live Action first as a taste.

Yeah I agree on Egghead at least, that's the best it's been since Water 7. I assume the manga fixes the pacing issues that the anime had on Dresrossa, so maybe I'll have a readthrough and enjoy the arc more.

What's nice is even the less quality arcs are fun to watch and have fantastic moments.

I can't wait for Live Action adaptation of Skypeia. The showrunner says they want a whole season for it. Skypeia did have a few issues but nothing captured the sense of wonder I felt as when they rode the knockupstream and saw the unknown world in the clouds. Pure adventure. One piece sucks. Post time skip was all downhill. Writing quality drops horrendously. Overuse of tropes gets very tired by this late in, Nika was a stupid retcon. Too scared to kill characters, too interested in making new minor characters, way too many lose ends to ever tie up sufficiently, also the plot starts having serious issues as it relies on certain characters being grossly incompetent to make any sense (the same WG that killed every baby on an island just out of caution ignored Luffy despite his power and all that Nika BS)

I traveled a bit these past few months across a lot of western countries. In all of them, where there used to be generic Spiderman or Batman merch, there's One Piece merch now too. More than the western comics stuff even. Go to any chain clothing store and find some One Piece shirts. It's getting really big.

Well I already stated we knew he was going to get another power up. He's been getting over them over 20 years. This one is a huge leap from his other power-ups, yes. But are you really going to try to make the argument that he wasn't special? This is someone who was saved at Lougetown by a mysterious man(that ended up being his father and the leader of revolutionary army). His grandfather was the hero of the Navy. The man who gave him his devil fruit and the straw hat is one of the most powerful people in the show, has ties to the world government and the noble families. He received his first gear transformation at Enies Lobby, which is becoming more and more important as the story goes on with it always sunny there along with a massive hole that seems to indicate that it was a impact zone of an ancient weapon. Whitebeard made it clear in Marineford that he wanted to make sure Luffy stayed alive as well.
