There were a hoarde of other great isekai that came out long before that time too. Mushoku Tensei, even if it may have been a "good" isekai that had existed as an LN before many of those other series got shows, was still late to the party. The only people around to actually watch it were people who still hadn't already gotten tired of isekai or had not seen any other isekai up to that point. Or were just LNfags. In whatever case, it didn't really matter to me since it was another drop in the giant isekai bucket, which by that point was about full to the brim and I wasn't going to stay to watch the backsplash.

The first time the change of pace really caught me off guard so it was impossible to get into the cutesie stuff and character development. I enjoyed it this time even though it was slow if not very slow at times. The writing and character development are really good most of the time. Some of the homemaker scenes are absolute cheese. Japanese cheese is so formal it is it's own phenomenon.
