This season of anime is total ass so far. How does so much garbage even get the green light for production?

How is all of this shit financially viable? Who's paying money for this?

I browse 5chan and even japs would agree with me the majority of new anime are not worth dog shit. its just fake weebs and literal autist man children that eat up this 2d slop

Web novels require no investment and garner a paying fan base. Then it's a pretty low risk move to adapt them into light novels, and if popular enough, anime.

anime has become mainstream
many people say that but not many understand what it really means for some reason
it means that more people around the world watch and PAY for anime
every year the % of international sales raises
it means that the average IQ of the target audience which was 105 IQ Japan many years ago now includes billions of niggers, SEAniggers, pajeetniggers, etc..
The best example is Solo Leveling. How can such insipid and basic power fantasy top the popularit charts? Because 99% of its fans come from 80 IQ India

So far I've enjoyed the salary guy isekai one, the okinawa girl one, the popular girl goes googoo for monk in training one, and the secret workplace relationship one
>>
>>274979966

Still better than last season though. At least this season we get apothecary diaries S02.
>>
>>274981872
I like the premise of the salary guy isekai, but it feels like it will probably get repetitive quickly. The secret workplace relationship and okinawa girl anime seem like they have the most potential so far. Popular girl becoming obsessed with a guy who won't give her attention also could be good, but is missing that je ne sais quoi

Anime has definitely gone downhill since I was in my teens and early twenties, but my own personal watching has dropped off a lot just because I've gotten pickier over time. I don't want to waste my time on derivative slop so a lot of stuff is a no go and I'm not a tranny so I'm not going to watch/read One Piece.
>>
>>274980031
>How is all of this shit financially viable
If you sit on the production committee for 50 shows it doesn't matter if 40 of them barely make any money on merch/licensing/streaming if you make decent money on 5 of them.

Anime for a long time now, and it's gotten worse in the era of foreign money, casts wide not deep.
>>
>>274982381
That's all media though.
There's tons of films, music, books, etc. released every year and the successful stuff is like 1% of the total volume.

How often do we even get a surprise hit show now? Every hit these days is a pre-calculated giga budget show that's more expensive than everything else that season put together. Dan Da Dan, case in point. That show wasn't one of 50 bets, that was THE bet, it's all in
>>
>>274981495
People said the same about mecha, which was synonymous with anime for decades.
Mecha anime thrived off toy and model kit sales, I don't know how far isekai can go. I remember someone saying that we're seeing more just straight fantasy anime that skips the isekai set up
>>
>>274980220
Anime is in a better place than ever. The shitheap that was 2000s and early 2010s anime has been surpassed. Miyazaki is a hack.

Anime to caters to zoomers and americans, and believe it or not that is what it sells and why anime is making more money than ever
>>
>>274979966
Sure, but is at least a billion times better than the previous winter.
>>
>>274982827
>People said the same about mecha
And it's still going so it does seem to be endless. Also even in the early days of anime it wasn't exactly the era of mecha, it was the era of sci-fi. Leiji Matsumoto wasn't all about mecha, GitS and Bubblegum Crisis aren't about mecha unless you want to cope

Most of the season hasn't even premiered yet. Faggots like you need to find another way to spend your time that you actually enjoy, because anime clearly isn't doing it for you.
>>
>>274983092
>Anime to caters to zoomers and americans
So why is every popular new action show set in Japan? JJK, CSM, Dandadan, Kaiju8, Kimetsu, all set in Japan. Doesn't seem to be targeting Americans
Of course it targets zoomers though, anime is always for the youngsters

Mecha never dies but it's way more niche now than it was at its peak. Even non mecha shows had some mecha in it

Or maybe it's the opposite, considering Gundam is now moeshit. Can't get less niche than that...

Those are all Jump manga. Shueisha's editors probably always push for Japan to be the setting because it's easier to monetize with cross-promotions if the manga gets successful. If you look at popular non-Shueisha shonen, a lot of them are set in fantasy worlds instead - think Fairy Tail, Iruma-kun, Frieren...

I wouldn't even mind the terrible animation quality in like 99% of anime if only we actually had good scripts.
Good scripts don't require gigantic 9-figure budgets. Yet anime can't even find any good writers for original scripts, nor can they find good source material to adapt. It's all just trash.
How is it that there are hundreds and even thousands of light novel writers, and NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM has written anything worthwhile? I'm not even gonna get into specific major industry problems like isekai since, from a writing perspective, isekai is inherently (and I mean INHERENTLY) a shit genre for writers who lack genuine worldbuilding creativity.
>>
>>274988079
>NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM
Have you watched/read all of them tho? 'nuff said.
>>
I've been saying this for years. 2012 was the year anime died. Oreimo and SAO came out that year, setting in motion a trend that still hasnt stopped. Isekai and Incest-Based Romcoms ruined the industry. Catering to the worst of the worst: Losers with welfare. Anime isnt written or made by people with world experience. Its made my losers on welfare who probably wrote it on their cellphone before they could afford a computer, its not made to inspire or create awe, its made to cater to Losers on welfare and make a quick buck. You're lucky if you get one or two seasons a season that exceed the bar, and you're lucky if you get one show a year that actually excites you or is a well written, well animated genuine masterpiece.
>>
>>274988267
Okay I guess Oreimo came out in 2010, but it was prevalent within the industry and culture at the time.

>>274988079

>>
>>274983474
See this>>274983709
But also fatigue as it dominated the industry for the better part of over half a century. Isekai, moeshit and shounenslop can only hope to endure that long combined.
>>
>>274988267
Notice too how no show - no matter how popular nor hyped - gets more than 13 episodes per cour. The industry is so fucking risk averse which only leads to by-the-numbers stagnation. Man I remember a time when even schlock studios like Gonzo could produce multiple 26 episode shows per SEASON.
>>
>>274990780
we still get that here and there but its split up by "cours". my biggest frustration with the 11-12 ep model recently was dandadan since 6 eps were leaked so i had to wait months for 4 episodes and the plot went nowhere sinces thats not enough to cover even the introduction of the main cast. and ranma being only 11 or so episodes when again covering practically nothing of the source material.

No offense, but it's pathetic that a series like Dan Dan Dan is considered the cream of the crop. The absolute state.

You're a retarded cuntoid, it's extremely hard to get on welfare in Japan if you aren't a single mother.
>its not made to inspire or create awe
It doesn't do that for you because of you're personal taste, not because it's uninspired or lacks awe.

And my favourite anime/manga came out in 2016, To Your Eternity, and it's as good as the best anime of the 80's and 90's.
>>
>>274991531
>my biggest frustration with the 11-12 ep model recently was dandadan since 6 eps were leaked so i had to wait months for 4 episodes and the plot went nowhere sinces thats not enough to cover even the introduction of the main cast. and ranma being only 11 or so episodes when again covering practically nothing of the source material.
You've got it all upside down.
The problem isn't the 12 episode anime model. 12 episodes is more than enough to tell a complete story.
The problem is in the weekly manga model. They churn out chapter after chapter after hundreds of chapters where nothing happens because they have infinite time available, manga drawing labor is cheap, and veteran editors can easily teach any mangaka the practice of padding out shounen manga with tournament arcs.
Telling a complete story in less than 10 years of real world publication time is completely against their interests of profiting off the manga's sales.
Of course, the same is true for monthly manga, but a monthly manga would make for about 50 episodes worth of anime in 10 years, while a weekly manga would make 200. Both covering the same amount of meaningful plot progression.
If someone could snap weekly magazines out of existence, the world would become a much better place.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is a similar concept and so far salary guy is not living up to it.
salary guy has much more limited animation, and it feels like a dumb person trying to sound smart with 'solutions'
To write a compelling problem solver without it feeling fake requires the writer to actually be smart.
