>love """""""triangle""""""">the girls don't fight over him at allThis shit isn't exclusive to pic related either. Where are the stories where the girls are fighting each other tooth and nail for dick? I want to see them possessive, angry, and jealous! I want to see them crying, hurting, throwing up over being rejected! I don't want to see>if he really likes her instead of me it's okay Where's the womanly pride? Lie, cheat, play dirty! Steal her man! In the name of love!
>>274994834So you want heroines to be mean girls who try to steal from each other? I don't read comics to be hit with ugly jealousy and back stabbing. I think oregairu handled it well, everyone was friends in the end.
>>274994834Watch Go-Toubun no Hanayome or something
>>274994880>So you want heroines to be mean girls who try to steal from each otherThink about it, wouldn't it be interesting to have all the harem members be horrible people toward each other
>>274994942No. I like nice things like Yukino, Iroha, and Yui not trying to fuck each other over. A person's jealousy is scary and makes me cringe when I see it in real life, I don't want it in my comics.
>>274994968I guess we gotta agree to disagree then because that doesn't sound like interesting storytelling to me. It just doesn't make sense to me why Yui would stay friends with those two after they start shacking up, ESPECIALLY given how they are. Take WA2 for example, Setsuna is how I'd imagine Yui oughta act, not the self-sacrificing martyr bullshit she's been doing
>>274995034It's like pottery, it rhymes.
>>274994834Kosaki was too much of an angel to put up a fight
>>274994834>love """""""triangle"""""""It's a harem
>>274995088she didnt really like him that much if that was the case
Let me explain the JP romance tropes to the new generation of noticers. Japan doesn’t do love triangles except rarely. Usually a love triangle is actually a mono romance with a 3rd wheel which acts as a comedy foil but not a serious love rival. It’s made clear from the start who the couple is and it will not deviate from that at all. Even in melodramatic shoujo love triangles it’s still clear that any separation between the main pair is due to a temporary misunderstanding and even when one partner is with someone else that they are still fully consumed with their destined pairing. In the standard LN romcom trash you won’t even get forced drama (except for maybe the final arc).
>>274995199>It’s made clear from the start who the couple isIt's almost never clear from the start who the couple is unless her name is literally in the title of the series.
>>274994834>Where are the stories where the girls are fighting each other tooth and nail for dick? I want to see them possessive, angry, and jealous! I want to see them crying, hurting, throwing up over being rejected! I don't want to seeRead Boy's Abyss, Maison Ikkoku or RaG if you want that shit.Nisekoi is basically Macross levels of sanitized (a daily reminder Minmay and Misa never were at each others throats and had a mutual respect).
>>274995313False. She is (almost) always the first girl introduced. THey will sometimes try to hide that fact (ie, Setsuna is introduced first — as the sound of her piano being heard by the MC) but this is a law that JP somehow can’t break outright.
>>274995507I’ve never heard of Boy’s Abyss or RaG but Maison Ikkoku is 100% a fake love triangle; it’s made perfectly clear from the begging who the destined pairing is and absolutely nothing at all until the very end even pretends to threaten them. The other love interests are played as nothing more than comedy foils with a bit of forced drama in the final arc. In fact I’m shocked that someone who claims to have read it would use it as an example of a real love triangle.
>>274995537>She is (almost) always the first girl introducedNot really it's more 50/50 but you probably only watched 5 different titles
>>274995507Maison Ikkoku I'll check but no shot Rental GF has anything other the most milquetoast levels of drama
>>274996742>Rental GF has anything other the most milquetoast levels of dramaIt's just PG13 and kawaiified Boy's Abyss. The romantic rivals are there simply to separate the MCs by any means and are selfish assholes. Just because you don't see a gay bully btfo'ing the FMC to death or a CF ruining her career by proxy or a mentally ill mom denying MC from his own self or the main yandere hag love rival mentally torturing her it doesn't mean the love rivals aren't absolute pieces of shit.
I actually saw a review of Tokimeki Tonight that said they didn't like it just because of how mean the two main girls were towards each other.>do things that could be considered bullying towards each other>one of the girls tries to constantly set the other one up with other guys so she'll stay away from the guy she likesLater in the manga, the main girl actually drugs the other one for some scheme. It's kind of related to the guy still but more for something else though.
>>274995034Are they that different? Setsuna always wants to stay friends too, win or lose. She just had a better opportunity to take her shot and latch on, opening up higher levels of drama that 8man's genuine autism nipped in the bud.
>>274994880Fuck this shit how the fuck did she lose to that boring bitch all she did was meow for two seasons
>>274994834This is a manga about a boy who knows he should marry and impregnate a Japanese girl but is being driven insane by the temptation of superior white girl pussy
Another thing — the JP romcom harem. It very rare for this setup to result in actual harem; what it almost always means is yet another mono / oneitis romance with the rest of the girls being orbiters for comedy and titillation. Think of it as a dating game show but one in which the winner is pre-determined and the cast doesn’t bother hiding it.
>>275001039Oh and it's about how westernized girls (bitchy, superior, domineering, accomplished, harsh) are more erotic and desireable that traditional japanese girls (submissive, apologetic, accepting, gentle, unimpressive) and how Japanese boys cannot resist
>>274998488>Setsuna always wants to stay friends too, win or lose.Actually, Setsuna made a move BECAUSE she knew that if she didn't, Kazusa and Haruki would get together and drift apart from her. And since she's a le popular idol (read: loser) with very few genuine friends, she decided to make a move on Haruki KNOWING that Kazusa wouldn't be brave enough to move away. That's why I think she's a bad person. Not a bad character though, Maruto is one of the few romance authors I like, have to get on damekoi sometime
>>274995124She did, but there was no way a meek girl like her could beat that gorilla onna
