The MC gets fucked up and goes into the hospital, where he's only healed by a magic bean. The villain also gets fucked up. There's constant one-upmanship and new abilities, but nothing works on either side, and they all end the battle exhausted and traumatized. The epic beam struggle, the "hope of the world" desperate attack, even the table-turning beastly transformation don't stop Bejita, and Bejita can't stop the heroes either. Goku doesn't rise up from his body being crushed with a new, over designed Zoomer-bait mondo-beast mode form either and crush Bejita after giving a speech about how he doesn't care about Nietzchean or Machiavellian ideas but just cares about his friends and defending his world. He just gets his body nearly ripped to shreds, and the most he can do while lying on his back bleeding out is inspire the others.As silly as it is, it feels like a real battle. Now imagine any other shonenshit (or DB Super) doing the same thing.DB always felt like a "real world" despite how utterly zany and cartoony it is. There is no "Power of Friendship", just actual genuine friendship and camaraderie.It honestly comes off like Toriyama was drawing a manga despite never having even read another manga before. Other animes have a bad problem trying to replicate that because they're copying DB and other anime.

This is why, when he is proved wrong, he lashes out at the stands. The attack on Goku's friends is symbolic in nature, representing Jiren's attack on his own feelings of self-doubt and inadequacy. The only way he knows has been turned on its head, and the only course of action available to him is to use his superior strength to grind this esoteric threat into the dust. It's a masterful and fascinating character moment for an already incredibly-nuanced and interesting character.
