It's really not. It's a super solid battle shonen that doesn't really ever do anything you haven't seen any other battle shonen do. Which is why it ran for a respectable 23 volumes and ended without stretching things too far.
The thing that actually propelled this franchise to stardom is the anime adaptation. It was animated by Ufotable, the most cracked fight scene animators in the industry right now, and they brought in their A game. The anime looks absolutely stunning, and that's what everyone loves about Demon Slayer.
