Reasonably speaking, is it necessary to marathon all the previous episodes of a new series you want to pick up mid-season? At this point, aren't the plots rudimentary, the settings homogeneous, and the characters fixed into familiar archetypes enough that you can jump in and already vaguely know what's going on?
If you want to watch the show why would you not want to watch it from the start?
