You fags even watched the remake? Believe me there's a lot of fair criticism that goes beyond the simplistic bland character designs. The entire plot is streamlined, you get a lot less character moments, the soul of this series by the way, generic sci-fi designs that completely miss the point, among some other things.

The remake is the best adaptation of the novels, the source material. If you didn't like that might as well think the OVAs are it's own thing not adaptations of a series of books
