The rest of the show and even the movie are cel animated. Are there any other cel anime with randomly digitally color episodes? (which are less noticeable on Blu Ray cause they muted the colors) I'm not talking about changing to digital just an episode or a few.
Bump for interest
>>275198393There's loads of cel anime from the late 90s and early 2000s that are partially digital, it's not really something unique or rare.Infinite Ryvius is another cel/digital frankenstein monster.Magic Users Club (the TV series, not the OVA) was apparently drawn on cel but coloured digitally, I'm not sure how that works. In extreme cases there's stuff like Inuyasha that were cel for 100 episodes and then switched to digital.
>>275198393What's the scene being used here?
>>275198820I'm aware and Bebop has some digital shots in cel eps but I I meant whole episodes just randomly completely digital, Bebop has two completely digital.
>>275198847It's from ep 23, ep 20 is also digital.
>>275198861GaoGaiGar Final (8 episode OVA) jumped to digital rather abruptly and it's extremely, extremely noticeable because the early episodes are cel.
Didn't Inuyasha switch to digital abruptly, like, 100 episodes in?
Bit unrelated but since I own it and screencapped it, every release after the Remix DVD of Bebop has been changed slightly, the guy who posted the DVD rip on Nya explained it.
>>275198891I just checked the rest of my copy and it seems to all be digital
>>275198991Yeah but most long running anime did that, Bebop case is weird cause it's not the end of the run.
Also where do you find an original broadcast copy of Evangelion?I've got one from a dvd rip but am missing from the phone call to the elevator scene in episode 22.
>>275199042Also reminds me Boogiepop Phantom has green digital filter on every ep but the last one and it's cel animated and the original US DVDs are broadcast version not the JP DVD with some redraws.
>>275198393Eden Flashbacks.
>>275199280I don't know, I know any version before 2003 should most likely have it.
It makes more sense to try out now tech on a later episode of an established series than it does to bet the whole farm on it out of the gate. Plus computers that could handle that kind of graphic load were very expensive in 1998. Budget wise it makes more sense to continue using your established cel-based production while phasing in digital tech rather than dumping a pile of money into retrofitting the entire studio. There's also the staff problem of training your veteran animators on the new tech or hiring a bunch of unproven new people who specialize in it but might break under the crunch. Staying on schedule is the most important thing in production after staying on budget
>>275199280Search archives of evangelion box set and youll find it.
>>275199042I havent watched cowboy bebop since it aired and it was interesting to find out all about these changes for what seems like no reason.
