But the kinds of beatings these bullies were inflicting (holding someone's head and kicking) were extreme enough to inflict life altering injuries or even kill. Even his plans for the mom being less extreme than many of us assumed is probably more a result of him being retarded than anything else. Were it not for the trillion+ year sentence I think it would be less gray. But then we don't know if that's normal in this universe even for people who aren't keyed and Asura is just sending them there early. If it just operates off of real world buddhism rules, there's apparently a hell for people who steal from the sick where you're disemboweled by birds. So this kid might have been heading towards a bad time anyway.
