I think all the Akatsuki members needed to have two arcs, the one with their big fight where they die, and one where we see a really fleshed out backstory. I know they touch on them for most of them, but not much. I think the video games give a bit more depth to them, including them joining the Akatsuki, would've been cool to see more of that. Especially my boy Kakuzu who fought the first hokage and didn't get fleshed out like at all.
