A new Dogman Crime Thriller by "Beastars" creator Paru Itagaki titled "Taika's Reason" started today in Weekly Shonen Champion issue 7/2025.>Crime Thriller set in a world where pets are turned into animal people to fight the declining birthrates even though inter-species tensions rise. A teenage girl lives a quiet life with her parents & her pitbull until one fateful day where the dog snaps and kills her dad. To save the dog's life, the shocked teen keeps the killing a secret and disposes the mutilated body of her beloved father. Some time later, her pitbull is turned into an dogman too, now living with the disturbed girl and her mom as a full-fledged family member, seemingly unaware of what happened before. But everything changes when the girl hears the dogman utter chilling words to her: "Hey, let's turn ourselves in."
