Is there any point to watching Jujutsu Kaisen now?
I'm trying it out because my best friend's sister got his family to watch it recently but I'm seriously not feeling it. Maybe it is that I'm not connecting with a fighting shounen that feels kind of muted or that I'm aware about the spoilers from chasing the lobotomy kaisen memes last year but it's kind of boring and cringy and, as logical his demeanor and relationship with Yuji is, I feel really meh about Sukuna. Some of the visuals are nice but the world is so dull.
Pacing is good and it does well at following with the consequences of what happened previously but that's about it. I don't think I can get anything from watching it.
Even if I wanted to watch beautifully animated fights, I could have rewatched most of Samurai Champloo in the same time I watched the first season, though I'm on episode 18.

Maybe you’ll like season 2 more even though it’s trash and ruined the show

What ruined it out of all the things that happen in it? I still remember people saying the Shibuya Incident was the most amazing arc to be put to paper.

It just feels like a 180 from the first season with drastic tonal shift making it more darker. A lot of characters are killed off but it doesn’t feel that sad because there wasn’t enough time spent with them to get invested. There’s sort of a plot twist I think with the villain which also ruins him. But yeah it basically feels like there should have been 2 or 3 seasons more before Shibuya. It made me not care about the series and I feel like there’s no point in watching more.

Game of Thrones was a cognitohazard for mangakas, now they have the urge to kill characters randomly to appear more mature.

no it only gets worse from there

shibuya should be the kinda event that marks the start of a completely new storyline with a drastically different tone and goals but it kinda feels like the story has its big shocking moment, dwells on it for 10 minutes then goes "alright moving on", no one really grieves over what happens long term, the fact shibuya is now a giant crater isnt acknowledged after the ending of the arc, unsealing gojo becomes a focus but his imprisonment (specially if we use the manga pacing with hidden inventory happening as a flashback for him) is written more like a death scene than anything and once he comes back he has 1 fight then dies, and we dont even see him catch up for the lost time he didnt have with his students who he risked his life for to begin with
i'll defend shibuya as really good in a vacuum and an effective twist, but the entirety of the story going on after it retroactively ruins it

Well if you've watched 18 episodes already then I'd suggest making it to season 2. It's different, darker, the action is better and actually important things happen. I'd give s2 8 episodes

This is like asking if there is any point to watching the Lord of the Rings now. If its fun, yeah, its worth watching.
Christ, some of you people are so moronic. "does I need reason to watch cartoon violence??!?!?!" ffs
>>
the point to watching it is that it's entertaining
whatever deeper meaning you're looking for (that ultimately is not there) is all on you

Don't worry they spend an entire episode dumping backstory that was non existent just before the character dies.
Who needs good character development expertly interleaved into the plot. Fuck that, just dump a flashback episode leading to the killing blow.

The show is purely worth it for battle animation, no other good qualities

If you're a fujo, maybe. If you're not fujo, no.

You watch it for the fights. Nobody cares about the plot of JJK.
