Which version is objectively the better one? 2003, or Brotherhood?
>>
Depends on what criteria you are 'objectively' comparing them.
>>
>>275230617
Brotherhood has a better soundtrack imo.
>>
>>275230617
I heard brother hood follow the manga while the 2003 version branched off after a while in to something completely different

In all criteria: be it animation, art-direction, ost, story, voice lines, etc.

Oh btw brotherhood was the one rated nr1 on mal for years
>>
Bradley returning to central after the train blew up and one man rushing the command center is more kino than anything that happens in 2003

christ I hate the constant need for (literally) cheap remakes of everything, even more so in examples like this that show that the original is 10 times better in one way or another

I heard that as well. One of the more blatant changes, for instance, would be the homunculi and some of their identities.

I just rewatched brotherhood and cheap isn't a word I'd use to describe it.
Much better than the original unless you're a contrarian who likes to cherrypick frames.

They're both soulless trash, so who cares?
>>
>>275230617
They're both great actually. I should give all the installments a rewatch, and read it, to that matter. I recommend the GBA games btw

I would, and it's not just for how worse the artstyle is but also for how Brotherhood glosses over stuff at a faster pace; stuff that's actually shown in the 2003 one.

2003 is for adults.
Brotherhood and the manga are for children and teens.
Simple as.

Bruh, why did it take Edward the entire series to be with Winry? Was he fucking stupid?
>>
>>275232159
She wasn't into guys shorter than her.
>>
>>275231083
Brotherhood wasn't trying to remake 2003, it was trying to reboot the manga and adapt it in its entirety. 2003 was an illegitimate child between a fanfic and an ad at the very day. A very good child, but still.

Eren never slept with Mikasa and Deku still hasn't scored so in retrospect it wasn't that bad.
>>
>>275230617
the answer depends on your preference on style and tone of the story, as well as animation. I dont think an objective answer is possible, in regards to artistic works

>Eren never slept with Mikasa and Deku still hasn't scored
Tbf they're both loser chuds, so of course they wouldn't score.

>skips over certain parts they know you've seen in 2003
This ain't it

I like 03 but it's annoying that the show chooses to end in a way that leads to the movie rather than giving some kind of satisfying payoff instead and then making a movie. That said, I do like the movie and the show more than Brotherhood but that's not to say I dislike Brotherhood.

I think 2003 is better as a self-contained work and the intro to each episode is legendary. Brotherhood opens on such a bad note because of the weird order at the beginning and their refusal to re-do things that had already been animated. It's really enhanced by certain episodes of 2003, which is why there's a guy working on FMA:B Re-Edited. That said, I think the manga is better than both, so the parts that Brotherhood does adapt correctly are pretty fucking good between the story, music, and voice acting. I really wish they'd just made Brotherhood a 1:1 adaptation of the manga.

At least Ed didn’t spend half the series crying in a corner about his feelings like those two. Small wins, I guess.
