Chapter 1Come and see what happens when someone is just too autistic to die
>>275238852yo opchama
>>275238979heya
>>275239179they totally forgot about this power huh?
>>275239221ehhhhhhh kinda. not everyone can have mizukami levels of remembering every detail
>>275238837hope this one is gonna be as fun as the one we had a few years back
>>275239221they bullshit it away later with everyone important wearing ear plugs
>>275238902cuteI hope nothing bad happens
>another Ajin storytimeNah, fuck off. Stop bloating the board with daily threads about manga we already read, of we can easily check on the archiveDon't get me wrong, i loved Ajin, but it would be better to both post another manga instead, and switch to volume dump in case of these long stories
>>275239516Stop bitching and do your own storytime if it bothers you so much.
end of chapterever seen this one before? it's a personal favorite of mine.
>>275239581thanks opsama, nope
>>275239569>Assumed to be a demi-humanThat's a good point. How do they know for sure that he's a demi-human? What if he's just "built different"?
>>275239581I've never personally read it, but I don't think it's possible to frequent /a/ without knowing about HIM.
>>275238962
The angst of the first volume feels so off once you've read the rest
>>275239516I'd rather have one more storytime than a single fucking Xitter reaction thread or other zoomer stuff
>>275239133This type of immortality looks so badass.>>275239664ඞ
>>275239380yeah, in hindsight, what a useless power it was, makes me wonder what kind of powerset the original author hard in mind.>>275239581thanks OP, I like this panel, it looks cool.
>>275239667the biggest change has to be the art style, everything is so round in these earlier parts.
>>275238837Oh shit If OP goes all the way this should be fun
>>275239193truck driver has his priorities in order
>>275238837I feel like volume weekly would be better but daily can be fun too i guess
Do they stay the age they first die at or could a demi human never activate and eventually die from old age? I assume they stop aging after the first revival
>>275239581I watched the first season way back when it came out on netflix, thought it looked cool but never finished it
>>275240925No, both Kei and Sato are shown to age after their first deaths. Sato dies when he's in the 30-40 range and becomes an older man, and Kei dies as a baby.
>>275241010Bro I read that and immediately thought "wtf he gets turned into a baby then dies??" LmaoBut does that mean they can eventually die from old age? Or would their heart stop working, they die, and then revive only for their hearts to give out again over and over?
>>275241138Fucked up the spoiler tag on that, can't delete post
>>275241138Old age is the only actual death tehy can get
>>275239325The amount of "new" people that can read and react to a manga are ever dwindling. At this rate it'll just be people reminiscing on the parts that they liked for the whole storytime.
>>275238837Aw hell yeah this is a good one. For those who haven't read it before, stay until the art style drastically transforms, the pay off is worth it
>>275241694First timer but I've heard good things.
>>275239581Thanks OP.I started reading it but never finished. Perfect occasion to fix that.
>>275239006they're only demi-, you goober>>275239094Truck-kun sends another one!>>275239344best bro>>275239581thanks, OP. I never watched the adaptation, but I did read it ~4 years ago during the initial WFH waves where nothing happened>>275239664very important, thank you
>>275238837Would Sato pick a fight with Elon Musk, pretending to be a gamer and having a china bot play path of exile for you is pretty cringe and I don't think Sato would take fake gamer credentials lightly. He would probably challenge Elon to a race to beat hardcore sff on a new character
>>275239311What a bro
>>275238902>This guy will go to prison for you>I don't know this bozo
>>275239516>check on the archiveWhat the fuck is the fun in that
>>275239581Thanks OP I know about it, but I've never actually read it
>>275239635I wonder if his dedicated poster is among us
>>275238982>Perhaps you would gain ownership of it, like hunted preyProfessor probably has a demihuman girl locked up in his basement, low maintenance as they don't need food and if they get loose you can kill them to regenerate. And it would probably still be a better fate than the government getting their hands on you
>>275239094If Nagai died he would end up in a better place
>>275239569>Think you have easiest job in the world>Have rat coworker who wants your job>Sato comes over to ruin your life forever>>275239625It would be pretty obvious after listening to witnesses at the scene, I am sure one of them would have started recording
>>275239664There could be an ajin in this thread, among us
>>275239325I've genuinely reread this manga like three times through the old storytime threads. Everyone's reactions to this batshit manga are amazing
>>275245070>Won't know if I'm one unless I an herowhat to do, what to do.
>>275239211What a bro.
>>275238876Kek, it really does change dramatically in artstyle
>>275239581I storytimed this years ago. Better times. Thanks anon I will be reading.
>>275239581Cool. I haven't read it but I was just thinking about starting it the other day.
I hate how /a/ has fucking cliques and will ignore certain storytimes while other ones people will talk in for no reason.
>>275239581I've heard of it her and there over the years but I never checked it out so I no idea what to expect. I always assumed it would have a gritty artstyle and adult mc based off of the cover >>275238837so what little expectations I did have already been subverted. I look forward to it though
>>275238837Ah niceI was kinda wanted to bing read it again but couldn't find the right time Thanks OP
>>275238865>>275238876Sakurai really improved drastically in such a short amount of time Ajin might not be as memorable if it wasn't for his great art in later volumes
Sweet, an Ajin storytime. I've read it before, but I've been itching for a reread.>>275239221I was under the impression it was deliberately abandoned like many other insignificant details as a result of the author shift. I think it's a change for the better. There's not many interesting ways to play with it compared to what we see later on.
>>275238917They're pretty short for being highschool students
>>275239581I read it but dropped it when things started getting boring.
The characterization is going to be all over the place here
>>275239028The mother is such a bitch
>author quits at the beginning>artist continues and makes it better 10x timesI don't recall any other manga beside Ajin that did this. In fact not only the story got better but also the art.
>>275239228Best bro
>>275239625Well they can just catch the suspect then scratch his skin and see if it heals on its ownEasy experiment
>>275249704It's been a while, but I thought demi-humans have to fully die before the regeneration takes effect so that doesn't sound like it would work.
>>275249315 Absolutely agree, moving past some of those early plot points gave the story room to breathe and focus on the darker, more intense elements that really made it stand out.
The shift post-author change felt way more tightly focused on the bigger themes, like morality and survival, instead of getting lost in smaller, less impactful details.
Ajin feels like one of those rare cases where the transition actually worked in its favor.
>>275238837I'll be with you in like one volume.
Btw does anyone know how Sakurai became so good at actions scenes later? It's as if someone possessed him. He didn't even do action manga before this IIRC, he was doing eromanga
>>275249585it helps that he is a military otaku, he came up with some crazy shit
>>275238837>Daily Ajin Demihuman ChapterWhat the heck, based?I really liked ajin, it ended well
>>275247576This chain's last dump was dead
>>275239459DYNAMIC ENTRY!
>>275239581Thanks OPI read it not too long ago. It was great. Amazing villain. I'll enjoy the reread
>gaimon starts shitposting with sato
>>275253974Gamon*
I'd really appreciate it if spoilers were put under spoiler tags.
>>275239581Thanks OPNo, I haven't read this one
>>275238837Holy shit the spot
>>275238891>What is bantering
>>275238837Yoooooo? Another Ajin storytime? This time a daily instead of volumes though. Nice :D
>>275239581I tried reading it after how much /a/ kept praising it, but I found it so fucking boring that I couldn't even finish the first volume. Altought it apparently it does get a lot better after that point, so I will see as I go along here
b
>>275256635Surely you can come up with something better than that
>>275256691A bump is a bump. This one is 3 letters shorter than a full bump.
>>275249585anyone knows which ch he left? Is it after kai left?
>>275239094How many lives Truck-kun has taken?
>>275239581Knew about it since the time when the anime first came out but never bothered to read it for myself even when it kinda blew up here.
I don't remember what happened to half of the cast
>>275256959The afterword says chapter 6 onward. Which means that the first meeting between Kei and Sato is written by him. I wonder how much of the original plan is used in that chapter. I assume Sato pretending that he's a good guy and wanted to test Kei was probably by the original writer though.
>>275238837action series like that are better storytimed by volume rather than a chapter a day
>>275257832cool. Gonna read it with this at the back of my mind.
>>275258414there was a volume storytime like two years ago iirc
>>275258414Anything more than 60 pages a day and I simply can't keep up with the thread...
>>275239094You really just can't make this shit up
>>275239547ENTER SEXO
>>275239581Danke OP, I've read it in the last storytime a few years ago and had a ton of fun. I was actually thinking of storytiming it myself you fucker good luck with the daily
>>275239569Insane glasses frames.>>275239581No, this will be my first time reading. I’m excited.
>>275251726He says it himself in an afterword, he's a big action movie buff
>>275258414True 1 chapter is like baiting Kinda lost interest after finishing it since nothing happensMaybe OP should pace it into 3-5 chapters per thread if you don't wanna do a volume
>>275259476What??? Loads of stuff happens. But yea, 2 chapters at once would keep the pace much better.
>>275239581>ever seen this one beforeI watched the anime like 8 years ago.
>>275257832march 2021? its recent?
>>275260205It was a monthly release so took a long time to produce over 80 chapters.
>>275260407nah. I just realise the afterword was from the final volume and not like vol 2 of the series. I'm reading ch 6 right now and like he said, the artstyle did change this ch. More detailed while it was much simpler in prior ch
>>275238837Might be better to do volumes, OP. Ajin moves pretty fast to be one-chapter only.A great series, though. It gets rad as hell.
Too many people ITT are comfortable with trying to tell an OP what to do with his longstanding thread
>>275265665What, is storytelling some sacred position now?Fuck off, get a trip
>>275265747>What, is storytelling some sacred position now?Always has been, yes
>>275257832Wow this makes a lot of sense.Thank god I stuck with it past the first few chapters. The beginning of this manga straight up sucks. I can only imagine he was envisioning some sort of lame story with these 2 kids as protagonists escaping the police? At a certain point the story transitions to operator kino, focuses on the military and Sato and basically drops this kid's relevance in the story to something enjoyable
>>275266052Spoiler future (background) information mothafucka
>>275239581Thank you for posting.
>>275249585The exact same situation happened with Kokou no Hito. The artist picks up on the writing early on and both the style of the story and art are vastly different before and after the writer change. And honestly the beginning of both Ajin and Kokou no Hito almost filtered me out
>Ajin threadFunny...I'm finally watching the anime yesterday after reading it years ago and never gave it a try because of the quality fiascoCasting Hochu Otsuka as Sato is pretty much how I have imagined what he would sound like so that's good
>>275239581what a bro
Chapter 2
>>275270957yo opchama
>>275271024heya
>>275270957Incidentally, have you watched Mnemosyne?
>>275271041never heard of it
>>275270957>funding themselves with youtube videos
>>275271187>>275271198What a happy coincidence!
>>275270967https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppl21c_zKo8 I gotta post the OP
>>275271070Its funny how this panel of the classmate saying he always seemed inhuman for some publicity in retrospect works as foreshadowing
>>275271056It's about immortals who gruesomely regenerate after being gruesomely mutilated and a mortal family line they associate and work with. Might be just right up your alley.
end of chapter
>>275271491Thanks Dumpy chan!
>>275271360Izumi is so cute!
>>275271491Thanks.
>>275271491Thanks OP, been meaning to read this one for a while now, heard good things.
>>275271491thanks opsama
>>275238837I was just about to pick this up after a reread of Rosario to Vampire. Guess I'll start now.
>>275239516I'd rather you kill yourself, please. Thanks.
>>275271434Ok if they start looking like that I can see why the scientists say they're not human
>>275271491Oh, so not only do they gain regenerative immortality, they also awaken a STAND.
>>275271491Thanks for posting, this series rocks
why everything is so round in this manga, I'm not complaining a japanese friend of mine used to draw like this and I like round faces but why is everyone so round?
>>275271477Liking this so far but the main guy reminds me so much of the MC from Voynich Hotel
>manga gets 10x better after the original author quits
>>275272635It was such a bizarre turn of events. I have not come across anything else like it
>>275239516>erm, don't you know there was already a storytime half a decade ago?? this is taking away attention from the shonen generals and twitter screenshot threads!!neck yourself
>>275271434RAIL TRACER
>>275271449gwok is an interesting choice of sound effect for this

>>275276004
>>275276004Wait, is this the same dumpy who dumped Dorohedoro?
>>275251726He' has a very simplistic paneling style which allows him to focus on story boarding good fight scenes.
>>275238902man early ajin art is so moe. is this gamon's hentai doujin style or what?
>>275266052>d basically drops this kid's relevance in the story to something enjoyableNah , to me Nagai became second best part of manga making him into House MD esque sociopath really elevated his character .
>this could have been huge as an anime but Netflix adaptation was dogshitIt's just not fair bros
>>275279533I want Matthew Vaughn or Chad Stahelski to do a adaptation
>>275279368It does look reminiscent of the style he had in his old eromanga. The most recent ero oneshot he released has much better art, though.
>>275271172Under no context this page gives the same vibe like those doujin shota
>>275279318Sakurai's paneling is anything but simple anon. Take that page you posted for example. In only one page and 6 panels - he's able to pack these details - Sato in a fire fight against superior numbers under the sprinklers, he makes two quick kills before an opposition lands a tranquilizer shot. The same moment one of the grunts declares he's hit, Sato's already pulling out his combat knife - before the reader can turn the page, we already know he's ready to sever his arm. And noticed how the sound effects don't block the action - and instead strategically placed to frame the actions. All that! And he conveyed that in six panels to keep the pace. Oda will easily cram 10 or 12 panels into a single page. Mashima can convey the same thing, but he'll probably use two pages. Togashi will be filling the entire next page with expositions to explain to you what's going on. Horikoshi will try to turn that into a two-page spread. This is a thing that manga can achieve but movies can not. In a movie these quick cuts can become chaotic and the director will be forced to use slow motion so viewers won't miss details - whereas in a manga the artist can use the number of panels to guide your reading speed
>>275249585I imagine that they wrote character profiles beforehand, because with the exception of like one character everyone makes the transition perfectly.
>>275279533we will never have the scene where kai loses his memory, then deduces he must be a demihuman and immediately shoots himself in the head animated and I will forever be mad.
>>275238837damn when was the last time we read this on here? 4 years ago?
just read the threadmango seems pretty good so faris ajin supposed to actually mean anything or just supposed to sound cool
>>275282423sounds about right.
>>275239581Thanks OP. And yeah I read it once years ago after it finished. Though I barely remember anything besides some pages that get posted on /a/ rather frequently.
>>275283745It's Moon for 'demi-human', meant to be like a mythical monster that looks human, but isn't. Closest comparison I can think of is like if there was an American comic called 'Doppleganger'
>>275283909ah i seethanks
