It’s been over a decade since I watched.Time travel is super easy to fuck up, and tends to be riddled with plot holes. Steins Gate actually made logical sense, immediately making it one of the best time travel anime. I did like the dramatic twist, and I do remember thinking it followed through pretty well.In retrospect, I’m not sure I would’ve made it through the first 12 episodes if every anime list didn’t swear the show was good. The pacing is clearly a problem. We can debate how many episodes you need to establish characters and tone, but I feel like a dozen is not the right answer. If it were remade as a 12 episode modern anime, you could have 3 episodes for build up and it’d be a better show

I just finished it for the first time with a friend last night. I really loved it and the first half is great. Last 3-4 episodes in a row were a great watch.

Any other anime like this? I loved this, higurashi and wanted to try umineko but it is apparently unfinished and bad. I'm trying shinsekai Yori right now. I'm a sucker for generally weird/horror series but it is hard to find out one that doesn't "waste" your time with filler episodes or general fanservice.
