I binged most of the movies last night and I have some questions for all of you TM loremasters. Obviously spoilers. Also sorry for the length.

Overlooking View
>Why didn't the ghosts just fly out of reach during the battle on the rooftop? Whatever could have Ryougi done if they just flew 50 meters above and away somewhere where there were no rooftops to jump from?

Murder Speculation, Part 1
>SHIKI says during one of those clasroom conversation scenes both that Shiki can only deny and negate and that denial ought to be SHIKI's domain. If SHIKI is practically all but explicitly stated to be an id-esque personality then shouldn't SHIKI be all about affirmation and Shiki about denial? What did SHIKI mean by SHIKI being Shiki's repressed directionality?

Remaining Sense of Pain
>What did Fujino do that made Shiki leave during their first encounter?
>Why did Fujino's parents try to seal Fujino's power? Aren't the Fujinos said to be hybrids like the Tohnos in Tsukihime? Wouldn't they be interested in awakening it like Ryougi's parents are in awakening hers?
>If Fujino wasn't stabbed then why was her uniform shown to have a stab wound while she was in the shower?
>In what way did her sense of pain or lack of it really relate to her power? Why did her sense of pain disappear again at the end? Did her power disappear with it? If she went on a murder spree due to wanting revenge then why did she act like she didn't know how to control her power or really be aware of it at all?
>Did Shiki really cure a burst appendix by stabbing it? Why did Fujino's parents never treat it?
>Why was Shiki so irritated by their supposed similarities if they weren't all that similar aside from being supernatural and being robbed either of a personality or a sense of pain?
>>
>>275251435
The Hollow Shrine
>Where did that turbo zombie come from? Who sent it? If Touko put a protection rune on Ryougi's room then why was she assaulted by spirits every night? Was she emo because of SHIKI dying, because of the hospital spirits trying to possess her, or both?
>What was the purpose of the montage with Mikiya singing while Ryougi was getting attacked? Comedic contrast?

Paradox Spiral
>Why does Ryougi have martial superpowers if technically her only special parts are the MEoDP and the prosthetic arm? The Ryougis aren't even hybrids or inbred autists like the Nanayas.
>Was Enjou running away planned to lure Shiki in or not planned because the apartment complex is all about the repetition of that one day? Why did his puppet body only start to fall apart during the final minutes if it was fine for weeks beforehand even though it was only designed to really last a single day?
>Why did Shiki appear when she did at the end? Why not sooner? Did she really need the barrier-breaking sword?
>What was that smoking altar thing in the basement about?
>Why did Touko and Kokutou visit Alba before entering the apartment complex? They only seemed to talk shit to each other.
>Why was Alba such a bitch? What was he even around for aside from getting killed?
>What happened to the police investigating the case? Did they just give up?
>What was Araya really about? His final monologue says something about wanting to witness all meaningless deaths through the Root's records to give them meaning through witnessing them or something but it was a really vague motivation.

Oblivion Recorder
>What did Godot Word really stand to gain from misleading the student council president about the Tachibana case?
>Were the fairies his minions or were the fairies mostly autonomous from him?
>Why didn't Azaka's memories end up getting wiped either time she gets owned by the class president's fairies if that was what the fairies were all about?
>Why didn't Shiki's fight with Godot Word conclude? Why did they leave Godot Word supposedly coming to Japan to return her memories during her coma hanging in the air?
>>
Bump.
>>
>>275251435
You ask a lot of pointlessly autistic questions, but I'll give it my best shot at answering them.

>Overlooking View
Because that wouldn't make for an interesting fight.
>Murder Speculation P1
Ryougi is supposed to be a proper Japanese lady so Shiki is representative of Yin, who denies the exuberant Yang and bloodlust of capslock. Capslock is a denial of the role Ryougi is forced to play as a classy Yakuza princess.
>Lingering Sense of Pain
Fujinon and Ryougi are both murder perverts as well as deeply repressed individuals. Ryougi hates those aspects of herself. Fujinon's branch of the family wanted out of the superpower game so they gave her the stuff to repress her power. Fujinon wanted "I Spit On Your Grave" revenge and was unaware of the extent of her power due to her numbness. Feeling amplifies her power until she burns out and Ryougi unfucks her appendix. Fujinon's family never knew

>The Hollow Shrine
Ryougi attracts death and decay, even with the runes. And yes, the Mikiya stuff was comedic contrast.

>Paradox Spiral
The first one is explained in the fucking movie. The katana gives her extra vibes power and she's tapping into the Root/her third personality. She's also a highly trained swordswoman.

Enjou's falling apart because the spiral is breaking down. Ryougi needs the sword to cut through Araya's Bounded Fields, which is also explained in the movie. Alba seethes over Touko being the superior magus and Touko wanted to verbally teabag his Willy Wonka looking ass.

Araya is a heretic Buddhist monk/shugenja who became immortal due to unlocking his Origin, so he wanted to be a record for the dead. Watch the movie again and pay attention next time.

>Oblivion Recorder
Misleading the student council gives him an alibi and allows him to keep working without interruptions. He was abducted by fairies as a kid and can bring them in line with the Unified Language. Ouji didn't blank OreImo's brain because she wasn't one of the girls cursed with "sin". Ryougi doesn't waste God's Word (not Godot, that's a Beckett thing) so he could be used as a later MacGuffin in Future Gospel (I think).

>Why did Touko and Kokutou visit Alba before entering the apartment complex? They only seemed to talk shit to each other.
I think mainly Touko wanted to try to get info, but Alba was there to gloat and bait them there fully by mentioning they have Shiki after spying on them earlier.
>Why was Alba such a bitch? What was he even around for aside from getting killed?
Alba was responsible for the system at Ogawa Mansion where only the residents' brains were kept alive and connected to puppet bodies, he knows puppet magic like Touko, but he was mainly just there for revenge on Touko to prove he was better than her.

I don't remember much about the first two films but I like Fujino a lot, so that's actually easier for me to go for.
>What did Fujino do that made Shiki leave during their first encounter?
Give me the timestamp and I'll re-watch, don't fully remember this
>Fujino parents
The father didn't want to be a mage. That's pretty much it. He wanted to live in the modern age and so made her suppress her magic
>sense of pain
So basically, the medicine she was taking to suppress her magic powers had the side effect of reducing not just her sense of pain, but pretty much most of her "physical sensations"
>Why did her sense of pain disappear again at the end?
Because Ryougi "killed" her appendicitis
>Did her power disappear with it?
No, but being nearly blind due to overuse makes it harder for her to use
>If she went on a murder spree due to wanting revenge
I'll touch on this later
>why did she act like she didn't know how to control her power or really be aware of it at all?
She wasn't. She was never trained on how to use them and she wasn't even aware of her Clairvoyance until she accidentally activated it
>Why was Shiki so irritated by their supposed similarities if they weren't all that similar aside
The main crux of the plot is actually quite simple: Fujino enjoys murdering people. That's the part that makes Ryougi want to hunt her down and kill her. It's stated that even when Fujino gets her "revenge", she's just going to find another excuse to start killing people again.
The reason why Ryougi opts against killing her right at the end is that her power stops working and she temporarily reverts back to her pre-awakening personality, so Ryougi decides to help her
>Did Shiki really cure a burst appendix by stabbing it?
Yes
>Why did Fujino's parents never treat it?
It's stated that Fujino goes to the hospital regularly because her lack of sense of pain prevents her for noticing issues (will continue)

He also showed up in Fate Zero to help burn all the island villagers who were turning into vampires in Emiya's flashback.
>>
>>275251435
>>275258021 (Me)
So basically, the appendix bursts right near the start of the story and she only notices it when the baseball bat hit "re-awakens" her sense of pain.
Your appendix would burst within 48-72 hours after the symptoms first show up, it's a really small window. My own father had it and so he gave me warnings when I was young because it's potentially fatal, but he said that the entire "ordeal" happened and then he had surgery within a week.
So basically the implication is that at some point between her last hospital visit and the accident, her symptoms first started but she only notices when her sense of pain actually returns
>>
>>275251442
>>Why does Ryougi have martial superpowers if technically her only special parts are the MEoDP and the prosthetic arm?
This is just a Nasuverse thing. Taiga in FSN is stated to be about Ryougi's level (while using a knife). The films also exaggerate some of her feats a bit, but she's not supposed to be able to say, jump to the second floor in a single leap or anything
>His final monologue says something about wanting to witness all meaningless deaths through the Root's records to give them meaning through witnessing them or something but it was a really vague motivation.
I mean you got it. He wants to "save" humanity and his idea is that by witnessing all of their deeds and acknowledging them, he is proving the "worth" of their lives, therefore saving them
I think this theme comes up again in Nasu's other works, but it's the idea of someone else acknowledge all of the hard work you've put into your life being able to save you. Araya wants to do this with all of humanity because he can't conceive of a better way to save them.
>>
>>275258281 (Me)
Lol I had completely forgotten to mention too that Kotomine Kirei in FSN was explicitly stated to NOT be using magic to enhance himself and yet there's scenes of him running at 50km through the forest and leaping 20 metres with a single bound, not even getting into Fate Zero where he's meant to be even stronger
>>
>>275258336
Kirei’s just built different

>>
Wow, thanks for all the responses. I guess I should have paid closer attention but people also talk even more obliquely in this than they do in other Nasu titles so you almost never feel like you got what they were getting at one hundred percent. His autism is also just far easier to parse in text than it is as a movie.

>>275252405
He was called Godot Word in the subs I got. Did I get bad subs?

>Misleading the student council gives him an alibi and allows him to keep working without interruptions

But he wasn't involved in the drug business, so he wouldn't have been implicated regardless?

>>275252434
Kokutou is such a bizarre guy. Imagine some random guy moving in with your GF for like a month in your absence and not even being the slightest bit mad when you find out. Though taking in random murderous bums from the street is also something of a questionable choice on Shiki's end.
>>
>>275257782
>I think mainly Touko wanted to try to get info, but Alba was there to gloat and bait them there fully by mentioning they have Shiki after spying on them earlier

Thinking that someone who hates you down to your atoms is going to give you any useful info is kind of naively optimistic, especially for someone as cunning as Touko.

>Alba was responsible for the system at Ogawa Mansion where only the residents' brains were kept alive and connected to puppet bodies
Ah, that makes sense.

>>275258021
Can't give you any right now but it's when they meet like twenty minutes in at this docks-looking part. She says or does something then Shiki just leaves.

>>275258148
So it was an unfortunate coincidence, huh.
>>
Forgot to mention that it's kind of comical how every single female character aside from Touko is in love with Mikiya one way or another. He's such a bland nothing character. At least Tsukihime Shiki is kind of an entertaining asshole and Shirou is a one man comedy troupe.

Wasn't the flying vs. falling thing just a metaphor? And either way she's floating. In the air.
>>
>>275266711
nearly everything in KnK is both literal and a metaphor at the same time, there's a lot of doublespeak happening that you likely won't catch unless you watch it a second time.

Mikiya is the best guy in all of Nasu's works and probably anime in general.
How could you not be in love with him?
You might not like it, but this is what women want. At least ones that have unreasonable amounts of trauma
>>
>>275266831
Why didn't Ryougi also use the walkman trick against Godot Word like Azaka did?
>>
I still angry that we got like 3 Volumes of Shirou in Elmelloi but not even a scene with Shiki in the flesh. I WILL NEVER NOT BE MAD
>>
Wikipedia says the recap movie has some new scenes mixed in with the original content. Is it worth watching for those or did the blurays retroactively add them to the movies anyway? Or are they simply unimportant.
>>
>>275263266
>Fujino thinks about him when she thinks she's about to die.
In fairness, they asked Nasu about this and he says that his intention with writing that was that she's supposed to be thinking back and yearning about life in general and not wanting to die
She is in love with him, but the movie went a bit of a different way with those scenes
>>
>>275261595
>Can't give you any right now but it's when they meet like twenty minutes in at this docks-looking part. She says or does something then Shiki just leaves.
Oh I re-watched it and it's pretty obvious. Fujino's powers stop working so Shiki loses the desire to kill her
Shiki's desire to murder people is a consistent trend in the series but the best way to describe it here is that she only wants to kill Fujino BECAUSE they are similar (both enjoy killing), so she has no interest in attacking Fujino without powers/without her killing intent
It's the same reason she gives for sparing her at the end of the film. Just rewatch the scene again and it's really obvious
>>
>>275263024
Mikiya represented ‘being normal’ thus all the crazy bitches who disliked their super powers went thirsty for him
Which is also the reason why he is such a bland note lol
Shiki was down bad because she is the craziest with the most OP power of them all
>>
>>275267348
none of this is worth watching, ignoring that it's hard to watch to begin with
