so i guess this is it right guys?.....fukamoto is never finishing this manga
>>275270836It's just his meal ticket, so obviously
I love the anime but the manga seems too much for me to pick up
>>275270836Why? When did the last hiatus start again?
>>27527091150/50 mahjong arc is pretty intimidating if you dont know nothing about it i read it and i got to understand pretty vague but still got the rush seeing kaiji failing and winning after that next arcs are pure KINO then after all the escape arc it does drag a lot with to much slice of life but i would lie if say that i didnt enjoy the arc and seeing some peace in the story >>275270985last chapter was on october 2023 since nothing fukomoto only said that the current arc would end soon and that the story would end on 7 arc but after that nothing.....and just when rumors about the coming back it was juts to announce spin off and a golf manga
>>275270985>>275270985It really might be over.
>>275271180I mean he's usually a diligent worker who was always finishing his main series before, especially the Kaiji parts. And he's still publishing his other stuff so I think he will come back to it. He always alternated between series, even though it was usually not in the middle of an ongoing part (but I am not sure). Some anon claimed he was doing research for the upcoming Kaiji stuff. Or maybe he's just too autistic to write SoL.
>>275271412i mean i do trust the guy to finish the story but what i dont trust is the TIME he is already 66 and most mangakas are falling like flies i don think fukamoto would run with a lot of luck this next years all thta luck was already used during the pandemic
>>275271541If it helps calming you down, most of these people show symptoms of tiredness before. It's rare to see mangaka that are as active as him die suddenly but I hope he isn't forcing himself too much. He maybe should take some time off and do some nice trips more often. And yeah, even if he is active now you never know when crap like cancer might hit. It usually happens to people that are otherwise healthy as fuck where you never expected it. To be honest the prospect of FKMT dying within the next decade or so is something I rather avoid thinking about. It hurts the most when a person creates things as unique as his series. They are simply not replaceable. It's not like the creator of some random action series dying that I love. FKMT manga are like an own genre. A genre that will die with him. That aside his series influenced me, my taste and they accompany me since 2007. Since I got into it thanks to Kaiji s1. I cannot imagine NOT having new FKMT chapters to look forward to anymore.
I like the escape arc.I like seeing kaiji use his wits outside of gambling to outsmart the Teiai pursuers. Also feels good to watch Endou suffer.Nigger stole Kaiji's money and still decides to be a teiai wagie.
>>275271823I love it too and wish we got stuff like this more often. Maybe not an entire arc but more SoL chapters. It's why I love the spin-offs so much.
>>275270911The manga (and generally all FKMT manga) are way better than the Kaiji anime
>>275271268always was
>>275271180Same. I've had no clue what Mahjong is, but I completely understood it because 17 steps had different rules. Fuck I miss it. I need to read Akagi...
>>275275712I think One Poker had the best mind games Mahjong was fun, but I'm unashamedly filtered by that game. I disagree that it was so different that you don't need to understand Mahjong basics. The whole thing was about making hands with autistic tile probabilities and mindgames. FUCK that shit for anything not explained for laymen.
>>275276451The thing with mahjong is that you have a few combinations that are more or less suited for each situation and it's kinda hard to explain to someone who never played. Maybe with translator notes, but really it's not all that easy. You can still get a lot of the mindgames going on but not all. That's why I advise people to read this part again after they learned mahjong, a lot of its genius goes over jonglets minds.
>>275270836Does this mean we always have something to look forward too?
>>275276451The basics of mahjong are simple enough for small kids to play, nothing to do with being a layperson. Unless you're retarded, you are surely familiar with rules for games that are popular in your culture but not others.
>>275270836just golf
>>275280247>looking forward to things that are NEVER happening
>>275280247maybe the real 6 billions yens were the friends we made in the road
>>275281679is kaiji just a whole big methaphor of NOTHING EVER HAPPENS??????
>>275271180>and a golf mangaNikaidou isn't a mere golf manga. The current arc is meta as fuck.
>>275282865i mean yeah i know the manga aaint only about golf and take some themes similar to other fukamoto manga but the point i wanna make is that the man prefers to work on different stories rather than finish the one that is on the most crucial point
It took him almost 3 decades to finish Akagi, why are you surprised?
>>275282865>Nikaidou The other thread, I read that name. Is it good?
>>275271541>>275271813What's weird is that FKMT's last interview showed that he is aware that he's old and that he needs to finish his works. Yet he went on a hiatus, announced a new work and a new spin-off afterward. If he really is doing research, I honestly hope it's for the entirety of part 7. I have a feeling it's going to be the big climax of the fight between Kaiji and Hyoudo. So it has to be a memorable one.
