>>275513196Is anything in this series relevant? Do these characters accomplish anything that matters? It's annoying that they made this part of the MHA continuity, since obviously everyone gets mogged by the mainline heroes, who accomplish bigger feats and have stronger powers. It really cuts the appeal knowing these characters didn't actually do anything important because another series hangs over its head. Seriously, what do they even contribute?
>>275523805>Do these characters accomplish anything that matters?Every life a hero saves matters. Down-to-earth stories like most of the best Spider-Man ones about saving a single bus full of people/saving a gf are better than the super-mega omniversal crossover events. Vigilantes follows the same line, for most of the series. However, if Skycrawler didn't do his thing Deku's Japan would've been way more fucked up. And Skycrawler dabs on most of the heroes and villains from the mainline story anyway.
>We have Etna at home
>>275524118>However, if Skycrawler didn't do his thing Deku's Japan would've been way more fucked up.Is this true though? That's why I hate this being attached to a different series with infinitely higher stakes, it's like straitjacketing itself. The apocalyptic shit in MHA with the STRONGEST HEROES AND VILLAINS IN THE UNIVERSE doesn't leave room for anything else to have meaning. It brings this series down on a fundamental level.
>>275523805the series includes the origin of Stain being directly related to the main cast. Kurogiri's origins are part of the series too, but only because eraserhead becomes a secondary character for a bunch of it, it's not really related to the main cast. >everyone gets mogged by the mainline heroes, who accomplish bigger feats and have stronger powerscruller's power actually ends up being kinda broken and by the end of the series he goes off in pretty spectacular fashion.
>>275513196Too old
I'm only interested in Vigilantes because I love MHA as a whole. I'll never understand people who wanna be contrarian and champion a spinoff as the "Actually good" series, like that spinoff doesn't owe its entire existence to the main series. This Vigilantes anime certainly owes its existence to how extremely good and well-received the last few seasons of MHA have been.
>>275523805There's backstories for some characters and Shirakumo as a character gets pretty much all of his characterization from here (also Vigilantes is where trigger originates from) but if you're asking if any happens that heavily impacts the main manga then no, not really. Its a story set in the world of MHA that has as much of an impact on the world as a whole as something like Team-Up Mission. You could not read it and barely miss anything. Of course that's fine since its telling its own story while supplementing the main manga.
>>275524724Because whether or not it owes its existence to the main series its still its own story. Like a child who grows up to outdo their parents, the main manga doesn't invalidate any claim that its better than the main series. Even the best moments using characters from the main manga still exist purely because of Furuhashi's writing. Writing quality isn't determined by how much original content you can put into something, its determined by how well you utilize the content you have.
>>275526348Except the opposite isn't true, if the main series heroes hadn't succeeded then everybody in this one would've been useless and screwed. So it's just not important. It's subordinating itself to the main series and saying "yeah, we're all jobbers that can't accomplish anything" instead of striking its own direction.
>>275526456>Even the best moments using characters from the main manga still exist purely because of Furuhashi's writing. Writing quality isn't determined by how much original content you can put into something, its determined by how well you utilize the content you have.Which is in spite of, not because it's attached to that series. This one is diminished by the other. We already know none of these original heroes matter abd they'd all get stomped by AFO.
>>275514391is she censored for the anime???
>>275524724Vigilantes mostly stands on its own as a pretty well paced and developed story, aside from awkwardly shoving in Eraser Head's backstory for no reason because I guess Hori couldn't fit it into the main manga?
>>275526534>they'd all get stomped by AFO.So would 99% of the cast of the main manga, what's your point?
>>275526639My point is that it limits this series' potential, forcing it to be subservient. None of this shit matters in the end. It has to adhere to the main story.
>>275526699The only only thing it limits is the stories ability to have an original villain on par with AFO, which it doesn't need to have since its a more street level story.
>>275526797But street level doesn't matter vs melodramatic world ending shit. I know that's a flaw of the main story instead of this one, but that's my point. Attaching to the main story makes it this one's problem.
>>275523805>>275526534>It's bad because they don't get STRONG and would all lose to the main villain of the entire franchise.Jesus Christ power scalers need to rope themselves.
>>275513196No but this is a Child.
>>275526905>It's bad because they don't get STRONG and would all lose to the main villain of the entire franchise. This but unironically. Tell me, what's the appeal of something that is entirely meaningless and subordinate to another show, to the extent that if those OTHER heroes hadn't accomplished what they did, THESE heroes actions are rendered useless? That's not a way to get people invested in their story.
>>275526900Its only really a problem if you can't view the stories as two separate ones. This kind of thinking would only make sense if we were talking about the main manga lower the stakes, not a completely unique set of characters in their own part of the world going through their own problems.
>>275527046>the only appeal of a story is scaleCome back in 6 years when you're old enough to post here. Then lurk for another 10.

>>275527357>meaning is only derived from scaleOkay, so you're retarded. Got it.
>>275527323Umnnn nothing wrong with that
>>275526534It’s hinted in MHA that AFO’s past victories are Pyrrhic ones; each time AFO tries to launch his final plot to take over Japan or defeat the heroes for good, etc, the heroes disrupt it and sacrifice themselves to push his plans back to square one. Ie in the….6th? 7th? OFA holder’s defeat flashback we see AFO had clearly suffered great psychological damage so even though OFA holder is being held by the throat and clearly defeated it seemed like it was actually the other way around. That sort of vibe. A flashback series that details these events wouldn’t be dark because we know that those sacrifices would in fact lead to total victory for the good guys in the future.
>>275527046I couldn't explain it to you even if you wanted me to, because you wouldn't understand the appeal of a smaller scale story that relates more to our everyday experiences in life. Probably because you don't go outside enough to have those experiences yourself.

People claiming that Crawler is superior to Deku as a character are out of their minds. That’s only possible if you’re a double-digit IQ looking at things at the most superficial vibe-check level. Yes Crawler has a more traditional comic book hero attitude and personality. But Crawler is made into an unstoppable powerhouse literally via asspull and plot armor whereas Deku at least had an overpowered quirk granted to him by the strongest being in existence, and had to struggle with this limitations his own body the whole series. Yes Deku also got asspulls in the latter half of the manga (oh my seven quirks) but Hori created a mechanism for their existence and not just raw asspulled ability out of nowhere mid-fight as with Crawler with the most absurd excuse (he always had it just didn’t know it). So Crawler’s heroic personality comes off as a prerequisite for being the strongest superhero star in his own comic.
does anyone else feel like vigilantes squandered what it had? it had a great universe to build upon and i was hoping it would mog the main series in every way. in a few ways it did, the main cast was better developed and more fun, but they wasted so much of the manga on stuff that felt directionless
>>275528247>But Crawler is made into an unstoppable powerhouseHe isn't >being the strongest superhero star in his own comicWhich is drastically weaker than the superheroes and supervillains in the main comic
>>275528278>it had a great universe to build uponNo, it was held back by the universe it had to build upon. Should've been its own thing.
>>275528278You didn’t enjoy Narufes and idolshit content in every arc?
>>275528308why would that have changed anything?
>>275528286So you missed how every major teacher from UA short of All-Might JOBBED to Crawler?
>>275528381>every major teacher from UA short of All-MightLiterally weaker than their own students
>>275528308Not really, it needed the constant showcasing of major MHA characters. All-Might showed up constantly even though he had nothing to do with the plot and AFO was basically the main commentator — why? Because no one would read it otherwise.
Another weird thing: Six’s quirk. When AFO asked Six which quirk he wanted was it suggested that AFO could get any of the top heroes’ quirks whenever he wanted? If so, even in his injured state…….why……didn’t he just…take them all…before that? Or, did AFO make that offer prior to his career-ending battle with All-Might so that he was perfectly confident that he could have followed through? But he still handily took O’Clock’s quirk anyway, so either way it really makes no sense why he would just let the top heroes run around with their quirks.
>>275523805The whole point of the series is that they deal with low profile, street level crimes that big heroes don't deal with and get by on a lower power scale. One especially nice part is how little MHA touches on the society outside of the hero-villain paradigm while Vigilantes spends a lot of time showing us how little folk are affected by the super powered society.
>>275528247Deku got 6 extra quirks for free, 2 of which were completely busted. The only one of those 6 extra quirks we even see Deku put work into is Black Whip. His two most busted quirks get completely off-screened. Koichi's abilities are literally just controlling his quirks output and instinct that he's gained through experience.

>>275528965>suddenly
>>275528616AFO couldnt just go around stealing every quirk he wanted willy nilly he had been taking considerable care in keeping a low profile and likely just wanted to secure whatever quirk Six's malleable mind took the most liking too and either lucked out on picking a relatively low-key hero or even if he'd picked someone like endeavor he'd likely just find someone with a comparable quirk. Going after a big name hero would have been risky enough going after multiple even small names could be even riskier if someone manages to connect a few dots.

>>275530183nta, but Deku was given Ofa, which was given to him by the strongest hero and destined to fight Afo, the strongest villain in the series. Both are things that have been built up from the creation of quirks with over a century of history and users behind it. Crawler on the other hand is literally just some rando with an extremely overpowered quirk.

>>275530425>slide on a solid surface being touched by a certain number of feet / hands>fly>also force shieldsFuck off.
>>275528653The only reason why Black Whip is harder to use is because it's govern by emotion of the user + OFA buffing the quirk. Fajin and Gear Shift are both technical quirk so controlling them shouldn't hard. Danger Sense, Smokescreen and Float are all support quirk and should be easy to use even then we see Deku trained Float.

His motivation is because he wants to be a hero by doing good to the community around him. He even skipped his official hero exam to do a heroic act. His motivation and story are different and I think more in line with what people would view a 'hero' as. That is just my opinion of course. Also your comment on Crawler shows how you can have a seemingly weak quirk and turn it into something stronger. Deku was given giga-strong quirks from the beginning and had to learn to handle them. It is a different approach. Both are relatable.

I feel that the real aspect that set Vigilantes aside from mha is the setting. Imo the worst aspect of mha was the school setting. It almost felt pointless at times. Vigilantes focused in a small town, and it's actually wholesome how the Crawler ends up forming a whole community made from characters of each arc.

I'm not saying that's a goood thing, I actually feel it's seriously retarded of MHA to powerscale that ridiculously. I did like how absolutely tone-deaf Vigs was on MHA’s mutant-discrimination message. ALL of the minor villains and random criminals were mutant-types. There was only 1 or 2 exceptions iirc. The great thing about it is that the manga doesn’t play it straight ie not even acknowledging there is mutant discrimination in the setting — it does put some focus on the discrimination issue as if it’s going “not all mutants and criminals but all criminals are mutants” lol!

“this is better than MHA”!“this is what MHA should have been”!“better protagonist than Deku”!
>>275513196Yikes!And this is an official spinoff?Maybe some things are better left Japan-only, huh
>>275539483All true.
>>275539483Yes.
Will Endeavor stans like this?
>>275543263maybe if you can like that he'll stay in his tournament attitude throughout
>>275544343I don't understand you but, I'm just here to watch Endy get bullied.
>>275531703The doc-ock shit gonna be axed soon. He’s nothing without MHA
>>275531752gookshits and chinkshits are way censored than japshits fucking retard
>>275531908>Crawler is way more relatable than Deku for most peoplemutts aren’t most people
>>275533403If that is true vigs wouldn’t have flopped
>>275523261Damn, I remember this bitch. Watching her get BTFOd was satisfying.
>>275513196You know, I do feel like Muricans only like this because it has shits their shitty comic books also have: vigilantes, street level, badass normal quirkless hero, secret identities. Also because they are dissatisfied that MHA isn’t like their head canon. I can understand why the japs don’t like vigs too, because it’s too similar to Murican comics, which is shit
>>275531703I hope the Doc-Ock loli manga gets a spin-off too! It's not talked about very much on here for some reason
>>275545922It’s about to be axed
>>275545452>>275523713Don't worry, she's comes back in the next installment
>>275545980where/when was this announced? how could a manga featuring sexkura spider get axed?
I haven't read vigilantes, Will ochako's husband show up this season?
>>275527046This kind of mindset is idiotic. Raising the stakes (aka powerlevels) is not the only way to keep things entertaining in a story. There are more than sixty Sherlock Holmes novels, and in none of them did he have to pull out a Super Saiyan transformation to keep the readers invested. The important thing is to make sure the story doesn't repeat itself, everything else is up to the writer. Vigilantes is not the greatest manga ever written, but it does a good job of telling its own unique story in the world of MHA.
>>275545752>they are dissatisfied that MHA is shitFtfy
>>275546281>There are more than sixty Sherlock Holmes novels, and in none of them did he have to pull out a Super Saiyan transformation to keep the readers invested.I dont think a mystery novel's a good comparison for an action manga
>>275546371A story is a story. The point is, Doyle never had to "up the ante" in his books, because he knew how to keep things different. And as long as you know how to do that, you don't need to powerscale anything, even in action stories. In the old days of Marvel comic books, before they completely exhausted all creativity they had, straightforward powerups were actually very rare, the stories instead relied on the revolving cast of unique villains, and how the heroes would deal with each one using the toys they already have (because status quo was king).Battle shonen fell into this pit of powerscaling autism because of Dragon Ball, which was the purest example of raising the stakes to a stupid degree because Toriyama simply ran out of ideas by the time Super Saiyan was introduced. Everyone just followed the blueprint, even where it was flawed.
Dead, slop-posting hours
>>275548469Was this one >>275546181 slop too? I really couldn't tell. Only by the short eyebrow on the guy.
>This threadPeople unironically defend and like Deku on this website? This is so strange to read
>>275548858Apologises for being rude anon but it's pretty fucking obviously AI.You really couldn't tell?
>>275548989No really, just the eyebrow looks off to me. I always expect NTR fanart to be strange or Afrobull style wierd in some way. I can tell most other times. Thanks for the meta data. I'm surprised you didn't have to use any artist tags.
>>275546281Without context this looks compromising
>>275536218>>275545244not only wrong but confidently so
>>275548989It's slowly been getting better at passing as the real thing this past year, wonder if it'll really be indistinguishable in a few more years>>275549205Funnily enough for this particular ai (NovelAI) the tagging and prompting system is actually pretty intuitive.. Mostly because they're pretty open about the fact that they scrape all thier training data from booru sites, and those tend to have a decent tagging system already baked in(Text generation is still fucked tho)
>>275543263He gets to torch the main villain once so I'd say yes
>>275551835Why would you bother generating text when you can just... write it yourself?
>>275551940That's too close to actually putting any effort or thought into it
>MHA threads get carpet-bombed and infested with AIslop cuck shitKinda fitting, you get what you deserve. That's the kind of audience that is drawn to this series, and the types of posters who sit back and let it happen are also perfectly content to let AIniggers wipe their bums everywhere.
>>275551940>>275552059That's actually what I did for this last one >>275546181Though that other anons right I don't usually go that far for shitposts
>>275513196Too bad the anime adaptation censored her outfit
>>275552308be less retarded
>>275552308Yeah, that ain't gonna cut it. If you don't want to write by hand, you need a decent font, like this onehttps://www.1001fonts.com/komika-font.htmlAlso, always center your text, don't ever align it to the left. And type in all caps, comic book bubbles never use lowercase lettering.
I hope Onemu shows up more.
Post real genuine art please thank you
>>275513196Still, I weep for what might have been...
>>275552960Can we get an AI picture of Koichi getting topped by the guy on the right?
>>275552462No>>275552607Thanks for the resource anon, maybe it's just what I need to elevate my NTR slop to the next level
>>275551835Surprised it can generate text at all. Waiting for v4 then ill reup my sub and make some stuff.
>>275545752Anon...Vigs flopped in both the US and Japan, the only people pushing it are those mindfucked by MHA but can't let it go
>>275553932Anything that runs for 15 volumes can't be called a flop. Team-Up Missions could be called such, but Vigs had a normal run. Their biggest flaw was not having any of the main cast, so only the most loyal MHA fans actually read it.
>dropped the main manga like 100 chapters in>thoroughly enjoyed VigiI wish it was just an original and longer running superhero manga. Would fit nicely with Keyman, Black General, Choujin and other original superhero titles.
>>275553050That's a really nice Toga, I like it when her canon expressions are properly captured without making her look "prettier".
>>275527782>I hate Deku too but he's strongerHis strength of character and motivation is severely lacking, it's a joke evenIf he was a strong character he would've found a way to be a Hero once he lost his powers during the ending. But instead the manga ended the same way it began, with him receiving a free handout that he didn't deserve.Koichi at least finds a way to help people despite his shortcomings.
>>275554992Deku's biggest problem is that we don't see him actually change outside of getting physically stronger. From start to finish, he's generally the same wimpy kid, he just gets a crowd to cheer him on. He doesn't grow up much, or at least it doesn't feel like he does.
>>275552839Friendly reminder than Jiro's earphone jacks are canonically described as erotic.
I want an MHA fighting game when the Vigilantes anime ends.
>>275552960their relation being>I will annihilate you. I will take everything you've built. No traces of you will be left on this earth>nice to meet you?is so funny
