With this, Nobu gets exposed as a fickle asshole, Hachi is justified in her actions because she's a woman and needs attention.

The reason his story with Hachi failed is because he couldn't accept her as the thing she was at heart: a whore. And the reason he's also failing with Asami is because he is just with her out of convenience and cowardice to face the reality about Nobu.
