>>282274701The main characters were localized because of the anime dub, on the mandate of some higher-up, probably from the Japanese side. This does not extend to random characters like these though, and given how they have to explain that these aren't the actual Japanese names of the main cast in stuff like the detective intro pages, the translators don't seem particularly keen on this either.

As for the noise, the waterfall is right next to the room and also appears to be crushing at some part of the hill there so I guess they would hear the constant sound of water anyway, the difference probably wouldn't be so noticeable.

>>282289321Oh, this is the treasure hunt one with all the pointing arrows, isn't it? Loved the puzzle.
>>282289446Come on Agasa, you should've at least expected a hobo or a junkie to break in. Maybe some teens trespassing on private property, god I fucking hate urbexfags.

>>282292170Good, because the wordplay gets absolutely ridiculous later. Better give zero shit from the start so the audience know what to expect (which is to say, none).
>>282296231It's an interesting thing to ponder: one immediately assumes it might have gotten edited into obscurity. But one also wonders if the opposite might have happened: still gotten so popular it reshaped Jump around itself. >>282296231>>282296919I am biased against Jump honestly. All stories I read that started there and went to other magazines improved.DC would suck with more Jump-y elements.
Read to far ahead and am now consumed with desire to make a counter for common shit to keep track of as the storytime works its way forward. So much fishing wire and cyanide to keep track of. Also considering how many times the murder makes some philosophical pun about their motivations. Also people should try to pay attention to when tech changes. Conan's actually remarkably grounded on this. It's really not as jarring as it might otherwise be for such a long running series.
>>282300466I wouldn't be surprised if in DC fishing wire is used far more frequently for murder plots than it is for fishing.
>>282300500>in DCI meant the world of DC itself, not just the series.
>>282300500What's worse is that when they do go fishing since it's almost always murder you can be sure fishing wire's gonna show up in the murder itself too.
>>282300582To be fair, when the police are looking for potential murder weapon, it's very convenient to be able to explain presence of fishing wire in your pocket by saying you were fishing, and that you honestly never murdered anyone but a few fish.
>>282300623That's one thing, I was also commenting upon how it also ends up being involved in murder even when they're actually also fishing. But really, this is the problem with a long running series that is INSISTENT upon it almost always being murder. Every poison is cyanide now, every locked room mystery involves fishing line. Some of it is just kind of how rote things become after 30 years, but part of it is how it always has to be a fatal or near fatal crime. If the series had committed itself to a wider range of mysteries (like the Holmes stories themselves actually did) it probably could've also avoided having too many similar seeming implements of murder.
>>282300466>Also people should try to pay attention to when tech changes. There's this one case where some novelist committed a murder or something, and his mother hid him in the attic for years so he wouldn't get caught, all the while still writing his novels. And his latest one featured these two lovebirds waiting at the same train station, but never noticed each other since they were standing on opposite sides of the same pillar. So Conan was all, "they could've just texted each other, this clearly shows the author is tech illiterate." I forgot most of the details of the case to describe it properly, but it shows that sometimes the tech discrepancy can also be used as a plot point, and I find that interesting.

I know it'll never happen because I assume it's too late in the story to even matter (I stopped watching around ep 800), but a fun story arc could've been Ran setting up Conan to see a therapist because she's concerned about the amount of dead bodies he's seen, and the therapist immediately notices that Conan's level of maturity is way above his age, and then they even pick up on Conan trying to diffuse the situation/play dumb, leading to hijinks.
Why isn't Conan being sent to a school for gifted children? Is he purposely dumbing himself down in front of the teachers, so they won't make that suggestion? Well, perhaps he figures that an ordinary school helps him keep under the radar.

>>282314972>>282314984>>282315000You can feel the desperation. Nice case
I'm kind of surprised Tequila just dies on his first appearance. I guess it makes sense they blew up the bar after they heard about their man dying though.
>>282314960>>282314972>>282314984>>282315000I had forgotten this happened in this case.I don't remember if it was ever mentioned what this bar explosion was supposed to be about right?
>>282315378If you include the anime/movie original characters, the members should be more fearful for their life.
>>282314180Richard really has become a huge star in this short amount time for them to be asking him to appear in detective games.
>>282314191>Gin and Vodka mentioned>They give him the claim tag 96Are "they" behind this?
>>282315646You gotta explain the connection, buddy.
>>282314346>>282314356It's a good thing no one died in that explosion.
>>282314917>I never thought the explosion was mineWow, he really isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
>>282314917>YOU BROKE UP WITH SOME CHICKThat doesnt seem like his fault
>>282314812Did Conan forget what happened in the last suitcase transaction with the Black Organization?
There is only one bump!
>>282314163Don't let the consequences of bad localization distract you from the fact that Richard has 6 fingers in this panel.
>>282314213Ran got dubs.
>>282314848My prediction is that 98 is gonna be somehow important, but it'll be mistaken for 86.
>>282314191Calling it now killer is Takeshita, it's always the most bitch-like character
>>282314268https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hswHOEQfj8
>>282314239She's going to break Jimmys hips if he ever find the cure to the shota flu
>>282315080Anon, I...
>>282320360>>282314844>>282314853i know the dump was finished when i posted, but called it
>>282314853OMAE GA BOMBA
>>282314917>I never thought that explosion came from the bomb I'd planted. He thought that there was coincidentally a different terrorist?
>>282320216That might be just Aoyama play into the fact Mori is hangover drunk and is seeing multiple fingers, lol.
>>282313353>Ran setting up Conan to see a therapist because she's concerned about the amount of dead bodies he's seenIt won't happen, but not because it's too late but because the amount of murders is basically way too much to fit into any reasonable amount of time the story is "supposed" to happen in. Not that any of the cases aren't "canon," but you're not meant to think of there actually being either an absurd amount of cases or a totally insane amount of cases in about a year's worth of time.Conan's been pretty good at avoiding making things too unrealistic otherwise. It hasn't repeated holidays a lot or generally done things to call attention to how long it's "actually" been, other than, of course, the inherent problem of it feeling like everyday it's another locked room murder.
>>282314213Aside from his sameface hero faces, DC has usually managed to avoid too much same face among the "episodic" cast. But I'm pretty sure this MANTENDO President design shows up a few more times. Mostly memorable because it's a fairly unique face compared to most of the cast.
>>282314163Why does he drink so much
>>282315623He just solved a murder case live on TV, millions of people were watching, and the footage was still showed on TV several days later during his wife's ENTER. This is when he truly become well-known by the average people (like those monks living in the middle of nowhere few chapters ago), not just famous amongst investigator/police/detective circles.
Next is Sherlock Holmes club, with the return of a certain high school detective.
>>282314154>>282314737they just won't keep the beika/baker reference consistent
>>282314142>why yes I only play MANtendo games for Man gamers like myself
>>28231415420 years later and I just fucking realized Beika city is a japanese wordplay for Baker, Sherlock Holmes' address
>>282315079Conan has too many allies and resources now. Gin is basically carrying the organization hard until the second-in-command appeared and Gosho turned Gin into a seething jobber to prop up Rum.One-on-one, Conan couldn't stand a chance against Gin. He's on the same level intellectually and too unpredictable.
>>282314338couldn't risk getting sued by ***tendo, Gosho knew
>>282324137And then he made Rum look like a regular idiot in the last case, to speed up the final showdown. A far cry from how much trouble Gin was to Conan.
>>282322117Looking forward to it, got some Holmes shit to talk about. Also one of the ones with a goofy fucking motivation. Honestly might be the silliest one so far, and even in general.
>>282320216Fucking AI, bro.
>>282324865The one about HER right?
>>282322952There are also some other fictional places named after places in London, like Haido town, which is from Hyde park.
>>282320360No, it's always whoever first has an ironclad alibi.
>>282314231Notable characteristic that will be used to pin the blame on him later, which guarantees it's not him.
>>282325195It's barely used in the case.Honestly Gosho doesn't know how to play well 2 different concurrent plots. He reused a HS suicide of a loved one for a reason to kill someone AGAIN.
>>282314883It's not big! It's firm and cute!
>>282314223Ran Butt
>>282324137Thank God you posted about it unspoilered in the thread, so I didn't have to go through the trouble of actually reading and enjoying the manga.
>>282314191sounds like Nakajima was still the one who actually wrote down the proposal and turned it into a proper pitch. you can't own the general, nebulous idea of "detective game featuring kogoro mori", Uueda is just petty and jealous
>>282314917>>282316033>nakajima, you HAVE to sleep with my girlfriend, it is vitally important!
>>282314917takeashit should be glad he was caught, at least now he has police protection. Even if it was by accident, he killed a member of the black organization. I bet they're just itching to cut off a couple of fingers of his
>>282326861They don't cut fingers, they cut throats. Or if it's Gin, then he just shoots. BO leaves no witnesses and failures around.
>>282314949first time megure hears about the black organization. It's a bit of an interesting pattern with him, he's always on the sideline of the black-organization-cases and hears small things, but he's never at the center of it the way conan is. I wonder what he makes of it all
>>282326901Well, it's ultimately not his business, since he handles murders and not organized crime, so at most he has a private opinion of "what the fuck is happening, I want all this to go away"
>>282314142Is that a Mantendo PlaySaturn?
>>282289501Jimmy calm down your Shinichi is showing
Lads i don't feel like reading 10 trillion nipponese wordplay filler cases just to catch up with the BO lore. Pls just spoil meSo what are they? The mafia? Iluminati? Jews? They gotta be either one of those if they're potrayed as this powerful and all-reaching
>>282327271Ask again in 10 years and we might have answers.
>>282327271A long time ago there was some asshole that liked crows and gold. He seems to have found a secret to immortality, cause he should be over 140 year old, yet he is the big boss of Black Org. The organization is some kind of mafia with headquarters in Japan, but can also be active in other countries, so pretty much every secret service sent an agent or two to infiltrate. it is estimated that today's BO is made of about 80% of these double agents.Ai's parents worked for the BO on development of a new drug. The agents were told it's a poison, but it seems the actual goal was prolonging life span.Gin is the only really competent member. He also had sex with Ai back when she was still a proper young adult.
>>282312347ah right I forgot about Miwa and whatshername
>>282325156then what is Teitan based of?
>>282325149>>282324865ah yes the one where the murderer was basically a tumblrina
>>282327538It's a pun on tantei (detective).
Why are these threads so terrible about using spoilers?
>>282328217It's not like the overarching plot has moved much or is that good, so most enjoyment comes from individual cases, which are not really spoiled.
>>282328333All the more reason to avoid spoiling the little plot we do get.I guess it's not that important, though
>>282328333There are also overarching mysteries (who is Vermouth/Kir/Bourbon/Rum) which shouldn't be spoiled.
why cant you faggots use spoilers like normal people
>>282329691It's a different crowd nowadays from the old one.
>>282329691Because anons don't live in Beika, so it's not like they risk being murdered by a disgruntled culprit Hanzawa using something like fishing line, stuffed dolphin, and a delivery truck that always stops next to this one park for the driver to take a break at 10 am sharp.
I can hear the fake voice Conan is making in this.
>>282314163Viz, what the fuck? What the fuck?
>>282314773Hey, Ran, even if it were a pervert, it's your fault for looking so horny.
>>282314200>>282314696>>282314825Despite acting like an ass, he does care for his coworkers, in a way.
>>282314972>>282315000Seriously WTF is with all the bombs on this case?
>>282334034It's really Shinichi's fault, the longer she is away from his original self, the more horny she gets. In series finale her horn will probably be as big as Tokyo tower.
>>282315971>>282320719Listen, it's the Conanverse, alright? You ever read that Hanzawa spinoff? These things literally happen all the time.
>>282315726B-But Tequila died...
>>282314401>he only showed the shoeso a chopped up woman or shriveled corpse was okay to show but not a slightly mangled body from a small portable explosive?
>>282334941Was it only slightly mangled? The police guy said everything was blown to bits, though he could have meant the stall and the toilet, but if the toilet is that broken, then the squishy corpse is no better.
>>282320813It's totally normal for mystery stories too. The detective himself is not why we're reading, the mysteries are the important thing. Think how many murders Columbo solved over all the episodes, it's probably enough to make him the most prolific criminal investigator in the history of mankind. Since the days of Sherlock Holmes, the main character is the least important part of any mystery, because he's the only character who has to be both unchanging and immortal on purpose.
>>282334103Weapons store had a special sale.
What always gets me about the organization is they are some super elite criminals with seemingly ties to everything and honestly absurd resources. But they also send their top members to constantly do gruntwork that should be beneath them
>>282335784I guess the org is that small? Wouldn't want your low-ranking goons to overhear super important secrets and blab them out later.
>>282335916But we see they are supposed to be huge with Haibara having a fuck huge lab
>>282335784That's unfortunate result of original plans changing on the way. Gin's high rank wasn't a thing in his initial appearance, he could have been just another gangster, but even after BO got developed further it was necessary for him and Vodka to keep appearing as the recognizable faces and popular characters.
I gotta say, I fucking love Aoyama's artstyle. I dunno why, but it simply appeals to me on a level different from most other mangaka. The way he draws eyes, expressions, character designs, etc.
I love Phantom of Baker Street. I don't care what anyone says.
>>282335132explosives that fits into a briefcase usually aren't that powerful. you can look up the bodies of suicide bombers, depending on how they carry their bombs (bags/briefcases/chest rigs etc) at worst they're gonna get bisected (usually only eviscerated or missing some limbs)and that's with military grade explosives, homemade ones like what we (most likely) have here will probably be even weaker
>>282337739Is this a stream?
>>282337739Wouldn't it make more sense to do the stream once we have reached Haibara's introduction in the manga? Bits and pieces about her have already been spoilered in these threads, and from what I've gathered, she does appear to be the type of character that I would like, but I still wish to get through this manga as unscathed by spoilers as possible.
>>282336895Out of all of the older Gen mangaka with "unique" art styles, I like Aoyama's the most. Knowing Conan looks as good as it does just makes me hate Oda and One Piece more and more.
>>282339264>>282338796This is a thing that the official english tms channel does every Saturday on youtube. This should be the next lineup of which movies they'll stream.
>>282337739I don't remember it much, but I think it was one of my favorite movies.
>>282339264Haibara is the best character. She appears in 70 chapters. So in less than one month she will grace us
>>282339264It's not like there's anything to spoil, this is an episodic story, and Haibara is one of the main cast, she just joined later. You know who she is, and that's all you need to know.
spoon?
