The real brave move would have been to have them be together after the confession and then have a shonen where the two MCs have an actual, well depicted teenager relationship with all its stupid teenager problems. It's really a weak spot of many mangakas the fact that they are not willing to portray this and that there is constant embarassment around the topic of people being together and having problems, breaking up, etc. I guess partly it comes from the fact that the story of how you get together is more interesting then the actual work required for being together, partly because I think many mangakas lack the experience to show something like this. Too bad. My favourite thing about Dandadan was that the characters felt wholesome and real, and that Momo wasn't circling too much about what she wants. I don't see why Tatsu would nerf her, besides needlessly prolonging the story for money or stalling it because he actually doens't know what to do after Okarun confessed.

There's almost no fluff in it. There's no long bullshit setting up unrelated to the issue at hand. THAT is an example of when this manga is at its best. When an arc is just a constant rollercoaster throughout. Not one long rising action, the drop off the hill followed by a resolution.

Jiji will almost certainly feel out the possibility of getting with Momo, mayyybe take a half-hearted shot, but almost certainly back off completely when he sees how absolutely devastated Okarun is by Momo forgetting him. I think if there was ever a moment for Tatsu to properly develop Jiji and Aira it would be now. Have Jiji realize that he's not so heartless as to take advantage of a supernatural do-over at the expense of Okarun (who he still basically owes multiple times over) and that the friendship they had isn't the basis for love like Okarun and Momo's. Similarly, I think Aira will realize that her attempts at love aren't doing anything for Okarun and that she'd rather see him happy and confident than a complete mess without Momo. Aira's leadership desires might kick in and she leads the group to figure out how to get Momo's memories back
