But the background and character designs just look so off, there's some shots were the CGI riders look a bit distracting too. The fact that there's a chance this will be a batch release too and that Steel Ball Run has a higher page count than any other part that preceded it makes me worry even more.

There's one big handicap to why I think this is style is ugly, and it's the fact that ever since Part 5 got Davidpro shit tons of cash, they refuse to diverge from GW anime style. Part 6 and 7 are all influenced by Part 5's style, since at the end of the day the anime is made to make money, and Part 5 makes money. That's probably also why they got Sale's generic ass voice actor for Diego too, even though his voice doesn't fit Diego at all (though he sounded good for a minor character like Sale- albeit maybe this one is pure salt, could just be a coincidence).I just wish they could actually develop a more unique style for Part 7 or maybe modernize/take influence from Part 1/2's anime style, but instead it all has to be Part 5 anime style because God forbid you go off the beaten path. What I'm saying is if I wanted to watch Part 5 anime, I would, I don't need Steel Ball Run characters to look like Part 5 characters.

I think the lineart is bad sure but another weird thing about this trailer + the stone ocean anime in general is how flat it is. I feel like the anime style used to be well known for having a lot of post-processing effects and a "glow" around everything right?? Now it just really looks like the raw art. A lot of it was kinda subtle there was always a layer of fog or a gradient map or After Effects lighting added.
I'm so upset that I can't share my favorite part with my mom. I hyped her up for it too and now this happens. At least I won't suffer alone I guess

You aren’t ever going to get a better Stardust Crusaders than pic related. And I’d actually argue the 90s OVA is better than the David adaption but that’s another story.

Like for example, just look at the sheer animation in the Silver Chariot vs Anubis or Devo fights. Reminder that the adaptions have always been the guillotine that ends the purity of each part of Jojo. They become no longer pure works of art and morph into meme and hype compilations for coworkers and school students to talk about briefly. The only people that deserve a story as good as steel ball run are the ones who have already read it and have been appreciating it for years and years.
