The author for whatever reason decided to lock Chiyo's beauty and body inside of a ugly mascot form for like the whole chapter, and the next one already start the donkey arc, that was a bad decision in hiding Chiyo, and this isn't me talking just now, i had this opinion at the time and plenty of jp netizens online also felt frustrated, it was kinda clear that the author wasn't bothering to show off Chiyo or maybe focus more on Chiyo & Kou interactions as man and woman, what i mean is that i feel like many people might've just expected other sort of development or approach for the manga and specially wanted to see more of Chiyo sexyness and cute personality but instead they just got your usual exorcist/youkai action series which was still good of course but might have not been as interesting for many jp readers, and you know how you can see that my point about Chiyo is a thing? Because in the last arc the author clearly went back into drawing Chiyo showing more of her body, some nice angles here and there, i'm 100% sure this was the editor telling her to do in order to try save the series.

There's clearly something going on with Kaedegami's cancellation. Whether the author got sick, requested it or whatever. Even Jump doesn't just randomly axe you in the middle of the story, it's almost always announced in some advance and you're given like 2-3 chapters to wrap shit up.
