Previous >>284791611Chapter 57Shigeta talked to Shima about having seen Chen being approached by a headhunter from a rival company who offered him a $50,000 salary to join them; however Chen turned them down out of loyalty to Hatsushiba. Shigeta also told Shima about how his work had seemingly ended his relationship with his fiance so Shima decided to pull some strings to get Shigeta sent back to the head office in Japan while Chen would take over Hatushiba Shanghai's sales division and double his salary, allowing Shigeta to make amends with his fiance. But it wasn't pure altruism either as Shima felt that by sending back an employee that cost, in total, $80,000 they were saving money while promoting an exceptionally qualified employee who was now more motivated to work harder. And furthermore, that merit-based pay would help in finding and retaining talented individuals. From there, he went to enjoy a round of golf with Senior Advisor Oizumi and Noriko. During the game, though, Oizumi fell which turned into a broken femur. He required surgery and Noriko gave him a little good luck charm to get him through it. But while Shima was out eating with Mangame, he received a call from Noriko informing him that Oizumi's heart had stopped. The two rushed to the hospital and were informed that while the doctors were able to save Oizumi's life, his brain being deprived of oxygen had left him in a bad, possibly vegetative, state where they were unsure how conscious he even was. Two weeks later, Noriko was talking to Shima on the phone and watching over Oizumi when she had to interrupt the call, coming back to inform him of the news: Yusuke Oizumi passed away at the age of 76.
It kind of makes sense that Mangame would be adament about this given his own relationship with his lover/mistress.
That's it for today. Next time, it's back to China and back to business as everyone wonder what weakness Sun Rui might have.
>>284868468That's a good picture of the old fart.>>284868535It's cool how Hirokane can use small details to convey mood. Noriko looked like an older lady for the first time when she was crying in the last chapter, and that carries over into the beginning of this chapter. She goes back to looking like her younger self when Mangame acknowledges her in front of everyone.
