Because of this people who go into it expecting to find clues they can piece together to figure out the mystery before the reveal like in a Christie novel are left wanting, but in reality that’s not what the story wants to be. R07 regularly shows that he’s more than willing to break any rule or convention to take the plot in his chosen direction. Because of this comparing it against standards of traditional mystery becomes moot.

Also queen carrier = queen ant). The VN even frames then idea of killing Rika's parents as Okonogi's suggestion. The manga kind of loses the plot here though by inserting the scene with Takano gleefully torturing Rika's mother and a few other "crazy" moments the VN clearly wanted to avoid at this point. Originally, it was also going to have some kind of Rika vs Hanyuu conflict regarding their different views and the reason Hanyuu didn't easily help Rika break away from the loops with her invisibility as R07 said in a post-Minagoroshi interview. But the later part ended up dropped.

Hinamizawa Syndrome definitely exists in the setting since they managed to identify the virus and prepare vaccine/medicine for it. People travel away and have no contact with her, and although that's said to increase the chances of Hinamizawa Syndrome, it's not just a matter of going away and the going crazy. Rika also already had spent one year in St.Lucia, so it's also odd she sees that strict academy with a rigid schedule as "freedom" and wants 3 more years there at least in the end.

R07 went for something relatively normal trying to give a life lesson, but it just makes both characters look really bad or crazy.
