If you want to make a better tragic backstory, have the town drive the fat guy out, and later have the town wiped out when he comes back with his personal army. Show the wife dying while trying to protect MC and the township, then he fucks off to do his revenge story. That would be nothing groundbreaking obviously, but it would be far less retarded and far more believable than what we got.
