Our initial big bad, the Gun Devil, did get a cool ass form as payoff for waiting the entire manga to see him, and Makima being a human despite being a full-devil is something that only happens in 1 with Angel, and her actually being a devil is supposed to be a twist and realization, not just a fact about how devils look. The only things that are supposed to be humanlike are fiends, Makima is an exception not the rule. I like Power but I don't see her as a love interest. The adopted family dynamic between Power, Aki, and Denji was the soul of this manga. It's purer than romance. Reze was the love interest, and it getting crushed in the bud was a major plot/thematic point because it showed how Makima was basically sexually abusing Denji by grooming him and isolating him from his peers. Asa is the replacement love interest but she's a stick in the mud and I don't like tsundedes, so she sucks.
