I really don't like how the Edo Tensei plot was handled, or even the Edo Tensei retcon. From a mid-tier jutsu to this huge thing. It seems like Kishimoto ran out of ideas. Like, the whole Akatsuki had death-avoidance jutsu. Clay, puppets, masks, rituals, or just weird stuff. The early anime version of the jutsu was better and had more significance than the canon version.
