Hyoga had the trauma with his mother which was resolved in his fight with Camus, so now he has nothing and is just a good soldier. Shiryu had a streak of pride to him when he was a "bad" guy fighting Seiya, then it's gone and he's a good soldier. Ikki was a straight up arc villain then turned into an ambiguous character who might help or not depending on his mood, that's gone he just aura-farms more by making cool pinch entrances. Shun is secretly super strong but dislikes comflict, so he ends up getting hurt more than he would if he went all out from the beginning; every one of his fights needs to retread that. Seiya had his own motivation and goals, he disliked the Kidos and wanted to find his sister, then forgets it all and becomes a good soldier. Saori goes from a prissy ojou-sama with a good heart to just becoming Jesus in a skirt, and never wants for anything other than peace on Earth again. The show became a series of ticking clock races against a new group of villains. And that's fine, the villains are fun and interesting; maybe I'm asking too much out of the show.
