No. This was outlined in his plan ages ago. He's going to mitigate crashes but he will let it hurt.
He even states a trade war isn't beneficial but the USA will still win due to internal demand, doesn't make any mwntion of how painful it'll be for the average american for the next 4 years though and if he'll survive mids or not.

my crypto investments look bullish my bond have me considering if i should buy a rope

"buy bonds they are a safe long tem investment"

the dollar is also losing the currency war against the Chinese. purchasing power is coming down.

do i sell my bond and run to crypto or do i join boomer rock holders?

why is Powell spreading my cheeks , why is he doing nothing

does the imf have any pull over china , also why hasnt the world trade org call out china for their abusive trade practice.

>One of the first things a cult does is to get people to see themselves as special (or especially victimized), and to see outsiders as wrong, deluded, or evil. So right there, the cult becomes protected against any outside influence. The cult begins to seal itself in.

>But if people outside the cult use mockery, yelling, rage, shame, or panic, that self-sealing becomes even stronger. It actually supports everything the cult leader is saying.

>Cult leaders somehow understand this, and often, they’ll begin acting in wild ways — creating fevered delusions of conspiracies, behaving abusively, or spinning out mentally — which alarms outsiders (naturally!) and makes the outsiders even more vocal and intense.

>Which then makes the followers attach even harder to the leader and the group. It’s a trap, for everyone.

china still fundamentally believes in a win-win endgame. it's gonna be up to trump to give up the zero sum mentality.

meanwhile in the background chinese trade routes are just getting dynamically and continuously optimized. longer this drags on the weaker trump's position becomes.

yeah, isolating china, if that was ever the plan, is not feasible. It's too powerful with too many friends and trading partners, even in the west. You can tell from the recent news regarding trump's desperation for talks and china not to escalate things and even from his body language and demeanor at interviews and speeches that his position isn't very strong.

Yes. That way we are able to become an export economy again. As far as bond yield, besides the conjecture of who is selling and who is buying, I am reasonably certain it's actually china dumping and Japan slurping. It's the main way china can respond to the tariffs without ultimately harming themselves to a significant degree. Bonds are literally crabbing like the markets.

The crab will win always.

Not to mention that they have no worry about what happens to taiwan. All tsmc architecture and their fabs are built in Europe by a company in the netherlands. If taiwan gets fucked and blows their fabs, Europe suddenly becomes the next taiwan within a year or 2, and then they'll be able to use that leverage to make bank on China.

you should have already identified the stocks you want and at what price, and if they decline you buy the dip with the idea there is going to be turbulence for some time but in the futuer the stocks you picked will increase in value and/or pay good dividends. If you want to play the swings you need to have the stocks identified and pay close attention and set buy orders for the price and amount. If it triggers then you need to know what price you want to sell and set the limit orders to sell when it hits that price. Maybe withing minutes, or weeks, you never know.

Surprised electronics are so low, but I guess it's just the components that are made in China, resistors, transistors, etc.. then they're put into shit in another country.. so no tariff. But anyone just buying components will pay a lot. It'll bring cheap Chinese capacitors up to Japanese prices for example and then the higher quality components will be in more demand and go up in price as well, so it'll have a ripple effect.
>>
>>60254098
It depends on what happens with the tariffs. Not many shoes (if any) are made in China and are mostly made in Vietnam or Bangladesh, so they won't get hit with that 145% tariff.

There are 2 factors to a price of a bond: the rating of the creditor and the interest rates. Institional investors are slowly selling US bonds because the tariff situation increased the assessed risk of US debt

It doesn't matter how Chinese people "feel". If there's a 125% tariff there's not gonna be any trade going on between China and the US, simple as.

And in terms of brands these are multinational corporations, Starbucks can just import the coffee from Colombia, make the espresso machines in China and import the paper cups from Canada the average consumer won't notice the difference.

They still want the real brands. Keep in mind, China was already getting exploited by companies for wanting slop, with imported cars having massive import costs on them and yet the Chinese still ate that cost because they wanted it badly enough.

Buying a basic Mercedes for example could cost about double what it did for others, because of the import tax, but people still bought them in droves because of the name. The Chinese elite have a shitload of money and will spend whatever it takes to get the brand name.

But all the brands you mentioned are multinationals, when you eat at a McDonald's overseas the beef is not necessarily imported from America, it comes from Brazil or wherever it's more convenient, the fries are made in local plants in most countries McD operates in, the chicken nuggets are imported from wherever is convenient, they have global supply chains. Literally nothing's gonna change for the consumer of those brands except it may be a bit more expensive because the inputs are more expensive. (Lower supply and same demand). But there won't be any change in quality it will be the same global supply chain as before.

Cars too, they are manufactured locally or can be imported from another market there are no tariffs with.

Now that the thread is slower:

>CPI was low!
>PPI was low!

True, but not the PCE components in CPI and PPI. Except for Airline Fares/Airline Passenger Services most PPI metrics are of the same yoy % and portfolio management even blasts everything out of the water. On top of that Portfolio Management was revised (it was MoM 0,5% (13% yoy) and went up to 8,1% for February (which probably turned it to +20% yoy)). Core PPI was revised higher for last month, maybe because of Portfolio Management.

Anyways, PCE might be stuck even with CPI and PPI going down.

Yes, but it won't be the same amount as you'd get from selling them. Think of it as like a loyalty reward. Also are you a child and/or Indian? This is pretty simple. At least the other anon was coherent. No offense.
>>
>>60255169
You can still do that with dividend stocks.
>>
>>60255174
but if you buy a stock and dont sell it, you dont get money for selling it
>>
>>60255193
I will no longer be replying to you.
>>
>>60255182
Yes. So the only advantage of dividend stocks that yield 4% a year over selling 4% of your shares of non-dividend stocks every year is that you don't have to push the sell button once a year?
>>

>>
>>60255207
Pretty much; it's for (usually older) people that have the mentality that holding is the best thing you can do. My friend's approach to stocks was learned from his parents—basically never sell, and almost never even really look at your portfolio, just know it's there and keep it for financial security. For many people, this is the safest method. I think /biz/ in particular treats the market like a gambling high more than anything else though. These people still sell *sometimes* but they don't sell as frequently as those with a more luck-based approach do, so it only makes sense to go for dividends.
>>
>>60255207
I forgot to mention that the other difference is that selling 4% of your shares still decreases the amount of shares you own which decreases the value of those stocks in your ownership. Might sound like small potatoes but it can make a huge difference depending on what you've got.
>>
>>60255254
Okay, so the benefits are purely psychological and behavioral. For an investor with self-control, it's a bad strategy. A portfolio of dividend stocks is necessarily less diversified than a portfolio of all kinds of stocks (perhaps tilted toward the value and/or quality factors if that's what the investor wants).
>>
>>60255287
>For an investor with self-control
There is no such thing
>>
>>60253183
>gold mining stocks

>>
>>60255287
See >>60255268
And the people I've known with dividend stocks always already do have extremely diversified portfolios. It really depends on what you prioritize, and how you treat stocks. Are you trying to get rich quick? Yeah, avoid dividends. Are you trying to build a stable source of assets over a long period of time, maybe even with stocks you've inherited? Go dividend.
>>
>>60255268
>selling 4% of your shares still decreases the amount of shares you own which decreases the value of those stocks in your ownership
Certainly. It decreases the value of your equity by 4%. But when those stocks pay out a 4% dividend, that also decreases the value of your equity by 4%.

>>60255319
Yeah, if you're impulse buying during a time like this, that will happen. But like I said, a lot of people I know with divident stocks specifically only invest in overall extremely stable stocks, often inherited or gifted from parents. It's an "old money" tactic, more or less, as retarded as that term is.

Ukraine gave PLTR an award for helping them take in all the data and develop attack plans which stopped the initial russian attack. PLTR was part of the military industrial complex from the beginning. Don't buy it, just stick to your picks.

a good way to think of dividend investing is if you are investing small bits over 5-10 years assuming its an etf or something with many companies in it, it will go up over that lifetime because you are insulated somewhat from volitility if its a big enough etf. Yes it still goes down, but its irrelevant, only changes in the dividend are significant, which is why people tend to pick champion stocks with extremely stable dividends.

You probably hear about dividends hitting 6-15% and while that sounds awesome its because the company is having issues and will likely drop it or suspend it.

The real money is that the stocks do become more valuable (higher price) over time and your small buy ins weekly moderate any losses, while your dividends help bump up your share count too, resulting in more and more. This is a slow process but it can work if you got like 30-50 years to retirement.
I wasn't able to keep working after 30 years due to health issues but I still made it to the point where dividends is around 7k per year on its own, combined with the stock just naturally going up it really helps. Someone who started dividends immediately at 16 will end up with millions of dollars at retirement even if they only made like 25k a year.

You do miss out on instant gains but you don't have to worry about instant losses either.

kek, in a just-in-time economy, it means stock will deplete soon, and worst of all, there won't be any new stock AT ALL even though we expected new stock but at a higher price. Now what this will trigger, is even HIGHER price on what little current stock there is.
Maybe those 5 planes full of iPhones were the greatest move ever. As only a fool would expect those phones to be sold at their current MSRP instead of $2499 each.

Usually, economic policy takes a while to be massaged into the broader economy, but the tariffs are instant.
A ton of small businesses might go belly-up in the next six months if there is no deal on Chinese goods, even if shit gets rerouted through SEA or India.
Commercial debt might go sour which could fuck over some banks that didn't learn from 2023's banking blip and then it's in the hands of the FDIC and the Fed
The Fed probably can't start pumping, because the rates would skyrocket and that'd create a liquidity crisis
If the banking sector however wobbles they'll have to and that could cause some fun times.
