Just a few years ago $25 face cost me a little over $500. Wild. And right now it's $51 early in the day. I don't think we have much longer, by 2026 my guess is only the ultra-rich will be able to spend paper fiat on precious metals, and it won't be very much either.

Thanks. I have a liberty eagle, so figured I should get the indian. Supposed to be delivered today. As far as the dollar, I don't see it risjng soon since the admin's stated strategy is to keep it relatively week to help exports. I'm on the fence because I need to stay as liquid as possible right now for reasons, and I really don't like using CCs to buy PMs. I'm a face to face local kinda guy and I have a great relationship with my LCS. That last was really more of a panic buy.
>>
>>61103512
They serve different purposes. It depends on what you're loking to do. If you're looking to buy weight you don't intend to move, buy 10oz. If you want the possibility of small volume liquidity, buy 1oz. Ideally you should have both, plus some junk.

Actually no.
Fed bank / JP Morgan naked short selling of silver is what held the price down

It is entirely possible that they both were told by US gov to go shush and stop naked short selling.

My somewhat educated guess is that
the big banks stopped naked short selling it.
Also helps US feds because they hold a lot of gold ,

has anyone else heard the idea or get the feeling that gold was introduced to trick people out of their silver in ancient times?
the idea that gold is actually manipulated similar to diamonds.
I think i have read that the Rotschilds already had half of the world's gold by the mid 1800's.

when i was a kid i always wondered why olympic medals went from yellow -> white -> orange when it makes more sense to go white -> yellow -> orange

there is something like 200 times more paper silver than physical silver. 200 different people all think they own the same ounce. multiple that by a hundreds of millions of ounces. silver has been artificially repressed in price since the 80s. that may continue but it wont continue at same rate it did before, as everyone rushes into physical the price will skyrocket. same thing happened to gold but its more like 5 to 1 than 200. the dollar isn't going to get stronger anytime soon either.

exactly. a swindler got it in the ear of a king about how precious and rare this new metal was.
the king then enforces the standard.
gold is not rare, you can sift it out of the earth.
gold is less abundant, but silver was actually money first long before gold.

this doesnt really affect our price reality at the moment, just wondering if anyone had any insights.

I think silver was in a higher standing before as it was very rare to find pure in nature. But now most of it is a by-product because of improved mining and smelting methods. Also, gold just sorta keeps looking nice even with wear and tear + it has no negative effect on the human body. Silver is the stronger conductor and reflector however. They are each unique and rare.

He already explained, except he's got the number wrong by half. The funds sell 300 - 400 ounces for every single physical ounce they owned. That used to be illegal, but in the '70s ('78 as I recall, but don't quote me on that) the Congress legalized fractional sales and precious metals derivatives.

they had a mountain of easy silver and had trading with the east.

it just seems like a predictable move by "'them"' to trick us into valuing gold over silver.

it was always felt curious to me that Jesus was betrayed for silver and not gold

>>61104228
exactly. gold was malleable and easy to get out of the sand, perfect for coin merchants and jewelers.

silver, is the most reflective, the most electrical conductive, the best a heat transfer, and the 2nd most malleable after gold. It has exceptional qualities and likely some we havent fully understood

also, have nothing against gold, i'm just spitballing some ideas. I think the silliest thing would be to take anything at face value in clown world

>My understanding is that silver was the reason the Spanish were able to explore so much.
>they had a mountain of easy silver and had trading with the east.
thats literally the whole understanding of 17-19th century global economics. Spaniards mined silver in the Americas, went to China to buy silk, porcelain and tea, and sold it to the others for insane profits. So much silver entered China it even became worthless due to inflation.
Spains loss of colonies in the Americas due to reovlutions and britain+france ravaging China reshuffled the global economy to India and ultimately to Africa late 19th century.

thank you. your explanation was succinct yet expanded on my understanding on the bigger picture.
it's good to explain things like this because it just makes it that much more ridiculous that silver was ever $30 considering how important it has been.
Spanish silver coins were the first global currency. Not paper, not gold, not tulips.

I'm not even considering digging up my stash until at least $350 or 2030, whichever comes first.

Holy fuck, it is just going to continue going up by this point right? I mean who in their right minds would sell in this market? It is probably going to accelerate as well. Hell at this rate we may see 6000 per troy ounce before the end of the year.

YOU literally had 61 fucking years to stack gold and silver (since 1964, the end of the gold standard)

Say goodbye forever to your cheapies.
you might as well fomo with your pitiful networth of fake debtdollars now instead of getting priced out, and at least hold 100oz of silver and 1oz of gold, MINIMUM to barely get by when the collapse of the debt system takes place.

probably crashing, I hope, after US government shut down is over. But if we look at the graphs, $48 in 1980s for silver, will be probably like $180USD for silver today, it could hit as high as $200USD/oz. But I seriously doubt it, and I honestly, dont want to wait that long, I don't need the cash, and I want to get them cheapies.

Anything around 300 USD is a good starting point, like the Nokta Simplex. It's a fun hobby for sure, maybe just not for everyone. But at least the gear eventually pays for itself, especially if you hunt on the beach.

Anyway that coin is worth definitely more than 10 USD so nice catch!

>>61104240
Aside from coins and jewelry, here in Italy I usually find religious medals from ~1600 up until modern day, cartridge case and bullets from WWs, and lead bullets from earlier times. Old livestock bells, keys, thimbles and other coppery artifacts from 100 years ago or earlier are also always nice to find. It's all about how much you value something old you might dig up.

Keep in mind that detectorists usually discriminate lower signals, so most iron trash and thin foil is ignored. That helps with avoiding most modern trash, and that's why I said coppery artifacts earlier. Just don't expect to only dig good stuff either of course. I believe every place on Earth has some interesting history buried beneath the soil, just look up for boards or videos from other Canadians to get an idea.

>>61104344
It's a nice machine. Usually as a beginner I would dig most of the signals, in order to understand what to avoid in the future. Sadly many modern trash will always sound like good targets, so you can't just dig treasures. It's certainly an hobby for people with patience and an interest for history, especially when hunting on the dirt.

On the beach is very different from the dirt. It's easy to repay your equipment with modern coins and hopefully some shiny jewelry.

It about to be. I like silver, because I am autistic, I like how it looks. But most importantly, I like the round bullion shiny coins. Silver will be a shit coin because it will replaced by copper in electronics with nanoparticle technology, cheaper, and more accessible, for space travels too. In fact, I recommend, after the silver crash, which will definitely affect the copper market, to also buy copper coins, and in the next 10-20 years copper coins will moon. Do this only if you believe in technology.

Copper can't replace silver.

In cases where cost is a concern, copper is often preferred, but it may not match silver's efficiency and effectiveness.

I wish I had beaches near me but unfortunately not so lucky.
I do however have many creeks that are often low water level. I'm not sure if its common but I'm considering trying my luck on the creek bed, I feel like the constant movement of water and rocky bottom will allow rings or coins to be moved easily which could potentially increase my chances of finding something nice.
My area is pretty rural so I may have the opportunity to do some old homesteads/farm houses, that could lead to some cool finds.
Only found a bit of trash in my yard so far though.

There are a lot of decent people around. I'd ask what the percentage is in antagonizing them but a lot of these newcomers are paid off to do so.

Been looking into that actually.

Good man. Everyone can be friends and talk about their gold as long as they're nationalists sitting where they belong and not invading someone else's home.

That -is- good insight. I've diversified but cashing out now would mean less PMs than if I held. So it's not an impossible scenario that I cash out in another country and build a stack there. Before the worst comes of course. Gotta play the hand you're dealt, right?

That is the role of Digital Gold BTC, if the confidence in the system fails, investors will flee to the safety offered by Bitcoin because of its historical role as inflation hedge and store of value. Bitcoin has got intrinsic value, something that gold and silver lack.

yep the straight bullion dealer model works great online but not as well in small towns where you gotta make rent or mortgage payments. Even if you did a 30% spread on metals, it's nothing compared to the 200%+ markup on jewelry and 300% or more on antique coins.

That's a years worth of wages in ancient times. That's basically like $45000

Yeah but so will everything. Land will keep up with hyperinflation since its more valuable than commodities.
Even in the 70s/80s it took thousands of oz of silver to buy a house.
I would be happy with 500-1000oz

>well i cant pay with that in the grocery store.

You literally can. The goldback dudes have gone out of their way showing instances where vendors accepted goldbacks as payment for their goods and services.

nice. unfortunately theres only chain stores here and much doubt they are flexible like that but i could see a small independent store do such a thing
