That being said, if your coin has dirt, tarnish, PVC damage or something else on the surface, then you should be able to remove it non-destructively with warm water and mild soap, acetone or baking soda - I can't give you a lot of tips because I don't have a lot of experience, but you should be able to find some good guides online. Obviously, if you're a newbie, only try this on common coins that are worth just melt - a valuable coin's premium will evaporate if it is improperly cleaned.
