>How did you get out of programming? Just /madeit/ on stock trades or you do something else now or what? I'm always thinking about leaving the industry.
I never had an IT job, but I planned to get one.
But I looked at the likelihood of me getting hired for junior (even though I had senior skills) in my 30s and the resulting salaries and how much I make with trading (4x times as much or more) MULTIPLIED by the time investment factor (9 to 5) MULTIPLIED by the fact I LOVE finance/trading, and the choice was clear.
I HATE pre-AI programming. It's such a mindless, brainless chore.

Buy the oil dip. The administration is probably testing the waters to judge the market reaction for a future escort mission of an oil tanker, similar to what they did before Trump cucked a week after Liberation Day. Trump's generals are probably telling him that it's a bad idea because they'll use hypersonic weapons on the destroyer escort, but they're trying to decide if the market reaction outweighs the risk. It will end up having the opposite of the intended effect and will squeeze oil to over $250 after Iran sinks the escort vessel

>US Intelligence Assets Have Begun To See Indications Iran Is Taking Steps To Deploy Mines In Strait Of Hormuz Shipping Lane - CBS News Reporter On X

>NEWS via
@CBSNews
: U.S. intelligence assets have begun to see indications Iran is taking steps to deploy mines in Strait of Hormuz shipping lane. Iran is using smaller crafts that can carry 2 to 3 mines each. While Iran’s mine stock isn’t publicly known, estimates over the years have ranged from roughly 2,000 to 6,000 naval mines of Iranian, Chinese and Russian-made variants,

Whispers:
- Taiwan's largest petchem plant declared FM today.
- Korean petchem plants operating at minimum possible run rates without shutting down.
- Japanese petchem plants now operating at drastically reduced run rates
- Singapore petchem plants on Jurong shutting down one after another in a chain reaction, as they each lose their surrounding feedstock suppliers.

- India attempted to buy spot LNG cargoes for delivery March. They failed to find even 1 cargo, regardless of price. The end.

- Indian refinery MRPL rumoured to be the first to be running out of oil. Refineries so far have not been affected because storing crude is quite easy, but India was completely unprepared.

- Myanmar banned half the cars from driving. Even plates = drive on even days and so on. Other SE Asian countries doing 4-day work weeks, mandated work from home, aircon restrictions etc.
- Korea went full retard and put a cap on fuel prices. Shortage now all but guaranteed.

- 4 out of 5 Bangladeshi fertilizer plants are shut down due to lack of LNG.

In short: give it a month and the apocalypse happens. There are still stockpiles for a while longer.

It's just gambling. The difference between investing and horse racing is that investing has much more variables in play, which creates an illusion of being able to make educated guesses.
So treat it as gambling, play with small sums on 50x leverage and cheer when you win something. That's how I had the most fun back when I had a brokerage account at least.

Oil is inverted head and shoulders

This is a full on crisis and the market will be in crisis mode by next week.

In Vietnam and Thailand they are rationing petrol, South Korea, China & Japan's industry will come to a screeching halt.

Inflation + mass layoffs from AI + rate hikes = we are in a bear market for at least 6-9 months probably until midterms.

Oil will hit $200+ I personally think $250 peak.

Yes but also a complete lack of backup plans.

American petchem plants already run on Ethane.
European plants either shut down or are switching to Ethane.
Chinese plants are also swithing to Ethane to diversify their supply chains.

No issues with Ethane, it's all flowing out of the US normally.
So why the fuck is ALL of Asia (except China) 100% reliant on Middle Eastern naphtha to make plastics and everything downstream from that (basically everything)?
Why didn't they also switch some to Ethane years ago?

I'm not surprised the world runs on oil, I'm surprised these so called advanced economies like Japan and Korea were so mismanaged.

The naval mines they lay will also be overkill for tankers since they are designed for modern warships

> U.S. intelligence assets have begun seeing indications that Iran may be preparing to deploy naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz shipping lanes, using small craft capable of carrying two to three mines each, CBS News reports. Estimates have put Iran’s mine stockpile at roughly 2,000–6,000 mines.
Can someone explain why the markets do not significantly react to headlines like these (that support the hormuz closure reality) vs. the markets being extremely reactive over le oil is flowing statements? A headline like this a week ago would’ve shot crude past 130. How is this being done?

I think people are still betting on the reserves. Although I have no idea how they're going to transport it all.

Okay I concede that point

HOWEVER thats still 1 mine per missile and you need hundreds at the very minimum, also practically every launch means your launcher will highly likely be obliterated soon after gg no rez

still betting they can't mine the straight of homos which is why the markets dont give a fuck about these news

Because consider oil is shit and the straight of whore moose is the asshole. You can't get out of the asshole if you block the anus, no matter what.

I don't think that's a problem. Iran has an enormous rocket motor industry.

>your launcher
Is just a commercial truck with some metal tubes on a frame that can be elevated

honestly, I was thinking the same thing. Just because Iran can keep the straits closed doesn't mean the U.S. can't strike any targets in the gulf either.

I think you're over-simplifying this. Just because an MLRS and it's associated rockets might be quick and easy to produce in normal circumstances doesn't mean it's going to be easy to do now. Firstly, the locations of most of the underground factories/bunkers/etc. are already known, so there's a real chance of most of their supply getting spawn-camped on account of allied air-superiority. Secondly, resources to support the manufacturing of military equipment are stretched thin due to strikes on their oil and the ability to attack any target that's out in the open. Thirdly, the FAJR-5 would probably need a specialized radar if it was going to be effective at naval operations, and I doubt they had that many before the strikes started. Ultimately, I don't think there's a real chance of Iran being able to lay-down a naval mine-field in the strait.

Coal, ethane or propane can be used as alternative feedstocks. The Chinese use coal to some extent. It's not *that* more expensive to use coal.

There are new missile and drone launches from Iran every day. Apparently, attacking aircraft not have enough numbers and loitering time to constantly spawn camp Iranian tunnel openings.

A new launcher for this rocket can probably be made in a shed by a welder. Precision in construction is not important because high accuracy is not important.

Why would a radar be necessary for rocket deployed mines? There is no need to see any moving target; the location to drop mines on are predetermined.

>There are new missile and drone launches from Iran every day
True, but the numbers are obviously very anemic, and the spawn-camping and defensive measures taken to avoid having missile-launchers bombed contribute to this.
>A new launcher for this rocket can probably be made in a shed by a welder.
the tubes maybe, but the trucks and equipment needed to make them stable firing platforms would be more complicated.
>Precision in construction is not important because high accuracy is not important.
depends on how accurate you need it to be. In this case, admittedly, it doesn't need to be very accurate to place the mines, but doing so efficiently to ensure higher density and to make sure the straits aren't navigable benefits from more of it. Otherwise more rockets, mines, and time would be required to close any potential gaps.
>There is no need to see any moving target; the location to drop mines on are predetermined.
