That's just the upper-end interceptor missiles, which we wouldn't be using on ships in any case. Given the fact that America currently possesses air superiority, we're more likely to see dozens of JDAMS or even FPV drones slamming into them then a patriot.

The fast boast number in the hundreds possibly thousands. Very small fast and usually carry a couple mines enough to cripple a tanker. Not designed for warships that’s not the point.

That’s assuming he’s not lying. But it tells you one important thing. Hundreds of small fast boast are mining the strait as we speak in the dark tonight.

That’s the important takeaway from this tweet. So does that mean strait opening is trending nearer or further? If they are laying thousands of small mines. That’s months and months of work to clear. Anyone with 2 neurons can add up all this. Even in the best scenario tonight it ends. Gulf oil is months away. Realistically. Maybe years.

the only direction to go from here is to continue the siege. Letting Iran get away with this without serious consequences emboldens them to do it again in the future, and that's a genie no-one wants to let out of the bottle. Boots on the ground would lead to massive back-lash and more casualties than strictly necessary. The only thing we can realistically do is to keep bombing them and hope to either wear down their ability to launch missiles (which we're already making progress on, but it'll take a while to complete), or get lucky with a domestic uprising. Republicans will certainly lose the house, but honestly Trump getting a stronger check on his powers would be for the best.

For decades they exported a lot of crude and imported fuel because they could not refine it.
A few years ago they built a shiny new refinery.
So far it's been working but who knows for how long.

Nigerian fuel trades are generally controlled by Jewish interests and they will not like this one bit. I don't think the local refinery is long for this world.

I think Iran is capable of using it as a bargaining chip, mostly to get Israel and the U.S. to fuck off and get their nuclear program restarted. The ceasefire proposal the IRGC put out however is just them over-playing their hand. The straits are a powerful card, but it's their only one, and if Trump decides to be stubborn about this (which is a distinct possibility) they're going to lose eventually.

The cavalry is here.

Pictured: tankers loading / waiting to load Saudi crude at Yanbu in the Red Sea.
Numerous ships already diverting and en route to load. I see multiple Saudi-owned ships loading right now and many Chinese state-owned ships en route.

The "backup" Saudi pipeline will be running at full capacity in two days. It can move 7 million barrels per day across the desert, about 70% of Saudi output. It's already running and ships are already loading at Yanbu.

Saudi is the only country in the region with a backup plan.

No it’s wouldn’t. They have completely decentralised thousand of independent buried ballistic missile, drone and anti ship sites. They can keeep this up for a year with no central command. You haven’t been tracking the reality of what Iran has been planning for THREE DECADES
>>

>>61965920
We have bunker busters and especially if they hit munitions might not be as much as people think. Chain reactions and stuff. At minimum it will keep Israel safe and secure but we are hoping that losing their final move in being able to bomb Jews anymore will get them to quit. Overall, it will result in very few casualties really.

Those storage tanks are 5mm thick. On the surface. Have zero air defence. The pipeline pump stations are single points of failure and as easily hit. No interceptors left.

You still don’t get it. Iran control the escalation ladder. If they hit the water plants. It doesn’t matter because there’s no people left in the region to operate the infrastructure.

Thousand of sites buried in rock. Most 1000km beyond the range of standoff weapons like JASSM or Tomahawk. Bunker busters require 10km range. The US still hasn’t entered Iranian airspace! They are launching on the Iraq border. Do you understand? There are thousand of optical SAM systems and MANPADS waiting inside the border. Effective up to 10-20k ft. Then the long range systems east of Tehran haven’t even been turned on.

You have to understand. Iran has escalation dominance. Just like Ukraine they have completely overestimated their capabilities and completely underestimated the “enemies”. Even though the folly was clear to anyone with a passing knowledge of the strategic realities.

Slowly bomb them into ineffectiveness, which will take months, and even then some durka will crawl out of a cave every few days and launch a drone or two. You can destroy most of their launch systems eventually. In the meanwhile do everything you possibly can to turn Iran into a Syria. Arm ever ethnic group, give the Kurds money and guns and promise them that they can keep whatever territory they take, bribe some random Taliban warlords with the same deal. I'm sure you could scrape together a few ISIS jihadists and get them set up in-country. Bomb all infrastructure, food, water etc and turn the country into a hellscape filled with desperate starving savages willing to kill and eat each other just to survive. Societal collapse is eventual goal (sry).

Let the Isreali's do the dirty work on the infrastructure and water stuff. They don't care anyway and won't be effected by the backlash.

I work in shipping and we all thought this week would be the one where attempts to transit would be made, and we'd know if it works or not.
But so far it's almost nothing. One tanker and 2-3 Chinese bulkers.

No one is even trying to transit.

Meanwhile outside of the strait, things are coming to a standstill because of fuel prices. No one wants to ship any cargo. No ships are sailing to potential load ports. Everyone is just... waiting. While stockpiles last.

This really feels like Covid 2.0
Seeing the news about mandatory work from home and car bans in Asian countries today drove the point home. I think this will be the big one and people saying it will reopen soon is like "2 weeks to stop the spread" March 2020 bullshit.
