I have been told many times that i could get better returns from the various tech stock or EFT of the moment. That is completely true! Here is the thing: I'm a 51 yo retired vet with three forms of fixed income who owns his own house outright in unincorporated township nowhere Maine, besides internet i'm completely off grid. My taxes are less than $300 a year.5 4-5 months the year i do a 50 mile trip on a snow machine if i want to go to the nearest town. Everything i invest is because i don't need it and it will just rot in a savings account so i have zero need to 'make it' because i already have. I chose companies like DNN, CCJ, LAC ect because they have acceptable growth, are backed by governments and/or physical assets (huge piles of yellowcake for DNN/CCJ) and most importantly: I'm not going to lose it all gambling that Orange Man or Yellow Man will not do something stupid if i walk away from my keyboard for a hour or two. Yeah i could get at least twice the returns without much effort but i have no need to, i'm just stacking shit because i can. Every stock i've chosen i must have one overriding criteria: as an aggregate will i be OK or better off if i don't even look at my portfolio for a year? If the answer is yes then i consider it.
