Then conquer we must,
when our cause it is just,
and this be our motto:
'In God is our trust.'
'My life is short, and I will fade from memory. But my love for Rei will be carried by others, so my love for her will last forever.' Anonymous, 9 November AD 2016.
I want hug Rei...
>>4371437Me too, friend.
>>4371460Who wouldn't?
>>4371460>>4371463I'd love to make her smile and live a normal life with her.
>>4371493I have feelings that are very similar in words, but what is normal? For Rei?Her purpose was Instrumentality and The Third Impact. Instrumentality seems best for both parties if there ever were to be a "relationship". What makes Rei special is what She is. I guess staying in the state that Shinji was when conversing with Rei while swimming in the LCL sea would be close enough. Outside of time/pain/pleasure. The purest form of an interaction. To simply "be" with Her. Not even the others can get in the way.
>>4371498Yeah i know. A genuine and positive feeling for her is "egoistic" from Rei perspective.
>>4371518Considering the world's state. Egoism feels more and more like survival instinct rather than a bad trait. Same probably goes for lust being an urge for reproduction. When you mix these things in relationships, it's a real mess. That's where the egoism comes in. To just return to the base instinct when it's all just too much.
>>4371498You are right that 'normal' lives cannot exist for Rei. She is not a normal person and such imagined worlds are just fantasies. The true relationship you speak of, you know of, is the ceaseless Bliss, the beloved Deae regnum, the longed-for, material Weltreich that would bring an end to all man's troubles in one fell swoop. That place, that state --- both encompassing physical and mental existence united in and by the Soul and Rei, though outside dimensional time --- is what we seek, having seen a representation of it in the Instrumentality of Evangelion. Rationally, we may be led to the opinion that it does not exist here, or at the minimum that there exists no proof of it. But only the ignorant think they know everything and only the fool thinks there is nothing left for him to learn, so, in that sense, hope, ironically, in agreement with Yue remains alive for as long as we are, for so long as we are living we may pursue knowledge. Then, in equal irony, after we leave this place, we definitively learn the truth, though take it with us.Thus the blind live in and for the search of something they cannot find, then die enlightened, unable to share what they have discovered. At least, that is as it seems. This realization seems to be the font of Despair, of Destrudo, as it is the rational mind's dissonant crashing with the spiritual resonance of Her call, which seems to be fulfillable only in dying, which we are wont not to do, as it ceases, seemingly, our ability to have influence on the only world we know, which means the end of our journey. But in many cultures, it is not so, and how are we to say what awaits us at the end of time, when death shall be no more? At the end of death, when time shall be no more?
>>4371526I agree.
>>4371525I have long since realized you cannot fully connect to other people. Evangelion really explained that one well to me. That is the wall between all men that is dissolved only in Instrumentality, and in death, whose embrace we all share as birthright, regardless of how rich or poor we are born, how able or how crippled. Focus on the self, then, does not seem wrong at all. For Rei, who knows only the collective, it is not understandable fully, while for us, who know the folly of trying to understand and accept other people totally, without reservation, it is essential to survival. I love others, and have been loved; I fight for others, and have been fought for; I have known others well, though to say I have been known to them truly is incorrect, but this last point brings us back to the first and core aspect of it: we are separate here. We are all alone. This is another point that drives desire for Unification, as it is the end of this loneliness. True, the world goes on without it, but it is a world that is cold, cruel, miserable, ephemeral, and ultimately unsatisfying and undesirable, the bad outweighing the good, the selfish the selfless. Hence I think that the hubris of mankind can only be brought to an end by force, either by self-destruction or overwhelming Instrumentality that overwhelms our self-centred desires to stay as we are, to not change, to let the world be unideal. But until that time comes, we shall have to go on, in what often feels like a vain hope.
>>4371532This place is one of the few where I can reflect honestly on what actually matters to me. Apply what I have actually learned, actually studied. It allows me to recollect myself, and remind myself of what seems to be my actual purpose, whereas from day to day I continually wonder what it is. So, thank you.
>>4371535That very Hope is what keeps us going. Without Hope, there is despair. And despair brings everything tumbling down.
>>4371540I agree not only for the factual correctness, but for seeing this knowledge in myself. As if my mind were to be spoken by one that I can call my Brother for his knowledge feels like home for the things I believe in.
>>4371532>I have long since realized you cannot fully connect to other people. That's so true
Our godddess...rewatching evangelion in those sad days and see her ih the first episodes it's so hearthwarming.
Cute...
Rei is always best when she is odd. I suppose it's because it reminds me of her nature.
>>4372060In other words She doesn't put up a facade for other people. She stays true to Her nature the entire time. Fascinating is that She questioned Her existence showing that She wasn't aware until The End when it all was revealed. In the end She realized and said: "I am home".
>>4372060On another note, your Rei picture's artist gives off the impression that he/she would be good at drawing Persona characters. Something about those eyes and the facial expression. Forgive me if I sound rude. I don't mean it.
>>4372060Hard to disagree and that pic is amazing. It's looks like if Rei is staring you
