I'm having Indian filter coffee right now, iced. The missus is Indian and she introduced me to this stuff. I like it. Very l, very strong coffee that you milk heavily and enjoy hot or iced and if you have it hot, you tumble it between glasses to make it foamy.

The cuppa is 7cl to the brim, and there is 4cl in the cup, but the expresso bar (torrefacto blend) is so gassy that i pulled the shot to the brim, you can see the crema has deflated a bit. My preferred way of drinking caffeinated goff is espresso, no sugar, no milk, sometimes i go for the ristretto, but that's what i mainly drink. The cappuccino pics are made with a decaff arabica/robusta blend to hone my drawing skills later in the day as i otherwise would never get to practice. >>20610743It's a custom that comes from the end of the 19th century. Some french maître chocolatier started to serve them with italian espresso and it stuck. The small choco pieces are even called Napolitan. >It's no secret that coffee and chocolate go very well together. Tasted together, they can even enhance each other's special flavours. That's why restaurants often serve a piece of chocolate with their coffee.>There are many similarities between coffee beans and cocoa beans. For example, they share many of the same aromas. Roasting is an essential stage in the production of coffee beans, as it develops their aromas. Naturally, the region of production, the nature of the soil and the climatic conditions have an influence on the subsequent taste of the products.>However, not all chocolates go equally well with all coffees. Because only identical aromas reinforce each other, completing the taste of the coffee consumed and the chocolate that accompanies it.Keep in mind that it's mostly for traditional short and strong coffees, i don't think it's a great association with light roasted coffees or filter coffees. The Valrhona i kept it from the last coffee shop, it's 61%, but usually they're small squares served with your cuppa, lookup napolitan chocolate.I find it really tasty.

Why does Starbucks coffee taste so bad? I mean, I assume they have the best grinders, pro espresso machines, and a plentiful supply of coffee beans?
>>20623673well, you know what they say about assumptionsthe main thing is that they buy commodity-grade coffee and roast the hell out of it because after a certain point the roast hides all the shitty characteristics that come with that low grade>>20623266been drinking ceylon tea lately because its a common tasting note and ive gotta say its excellent stuff, it has a honey-like sweetnesscurrently brewing a lovely dried berry tisane that my local roaster sells (:
>>20623673I recall it tasted burnt on multiple occasions. I don't know if that's the fault of the beans, the roasting process, the water temperature, or what.
>>20623673>>20623687>>20623692>roast the hell out of it because>tasted burntIts a numbers game .They roast that dark for consistency on their cheap low grade beans. Starbucks can't serve top tier specialty at all of their 17k locations and keep the experience consistent. One, there's not enough of any specific crop to feed that consumerism. Two, when 99% of your customers are flooding their coffee with milk, sugar, whipped cheap, and 8 flavor pumps you want something acrid enough to cut through the slop and still taste vaguely like "coffee". Tastes like shit, but it'll taste like familiar shit no matter where you are.
i have an old ass bag of this laying around and i still think it's fine every time i bust it out, but i also might just like burnt notes and/or have no standards

New bins broskis. Washed volcanic sweet and suave red caturra micro-lot from Pampojila.>SENSORY PROFILE>Notes of chocolate, lemon, sugar cane and hazelnut.>This coffee is produced in the Pampojila farm, a plantation located in the Solola region, in the department of Santa Barbara. Located not far from the Atitlan volcano, the farm benefits from rich volcanic soil, a considerable asset for the cultivation of its coffee trees. These are all produced in accordance with a responsible, sustainable and socially viable production method.>The liveliness of this coffee is reminiscent of the coffees of Huehuetenango.>PAMPOJILA>It was following the Agatha storm of 2012 that producer Alex Herrera bought the Pampojila farm, whose production tools had been completely devastated. After restoring it and by dint of determination, he succeeded in relaunching production and, thus, giving work to a hundred families. The discovery of coffee production on a farm like this (500 hectares of volcanic land at an altitude of between 1250 and 1500m, a processing plant, etc.) completely changed his perception of coffee: Alex then discovered a real local product. This is why he is fully involved in the renovation and development of the farm, first by replanting coffee trees, then by renovating the processing plant. Today, 250 hectares of Caturra coffee trees are planted between 1470 and 1720m; the remaining 250 hectares serve as a nature reserve.1/2
>>20624728>THE STRONG POINTS>Polyculture planting | Territory of the Atitlan volcano | Sustainable production | Nature reserve | Vivid coffee profile of Huehuetenango>THE PRODUCER'S STORY>Alex Herrera is the owner of Finca Pampojila and Finca Panamá farms. The plantations are located around the Atitlán volcano, in the Sololá region, in the department of Santa Bárbara. Alex Herrera owns a very special polyculture plantation. In addition to producing coffee for more than 100 years, it also has various agricultural productions, including a large production of macadamia nuts, honey, rubber and quinine (known in particular as a remedy for malaria). Its objective has always been to produce while respecting a responsible, sustainable and socially viable production method.Tasty coffee. Has a discernible chocolate taste on the first sip and some sweet lemon like acidity appears once you swallow. Overall balanced sweet sip, with a faint lingering aftertaste. I like it more than the last three other guatemalans i tried. 2/2

>>20631668>The question is, for pour over, is 18 grams the recommended amount for a cup of coffee?depends on how much water youre usingi like to use 15g, usually at a ratio of 1:18 of coffee to waterif youre just getting started i would try 1:16 you might find that an even lower ratio gets better results from your preground coffee, its something to play around with just take notes>I feel like it is a bit too much.
