>>3988296
>>3988298We must pay the toll...
>>3988300Silly Millie…
I wish my normal taxes looked so good...>>3988283All I want is crumbs. There's already a lot of great radiostatic fan content of all flavours out there. As long as there's the bare minimum there in canon, there will be plenty more and it'll be way better.
>>3988302I wonder if Alastor ever paid taxes
>>3988302I'm completely fine with the whole unrequited love thing (Radiosilent I think it's called?), but I doubt Viv will give us anything of substance, sadly.>>3988303Doubtful.
>>3988305Radiosilence. That would be fine, or something platonic. They're just too obsessed with each other to have barely any relationship at all, it would feel weird in my opinion.>>3988303Imagine if he got arrested for tax evasion lol.
>>3988308thats how they got the poor deer, SAD!>>3988305Deer have the right to NOT pay taxes, cause they are so cute!
>>3988308I can possibly see it as Vox being a stalker and Al just kind of annoyed by it, but to have no real beef and then suddenly hating each other is too odd.>>3988313Fair and valid point...
>>3988313I can't help thinking about the poor deer sweating as the police are at the door, thinking they found the bodies or something, then being relieved when all they're worried about is his unpaid taxes.

>>3988332Surprise, motherfucker!
>>3988335Jesus Christ Alastor you’re The deer harbor butcher…
Agreeing with anons invested in the radiosilence or just simple Vox/Alastor friendship dynamic. The potential there is so vast, but I have a feeling viv and co. will go with the least interesting option.
>>3988340Least interesting and easiest to write. Still will somehow fuck that up too
>>3988303Tax law would have been extensively different when he was alive. Baby America initially only taxed imports through tariffs, whiskey, and apparently glass windows. States and localities did poll taxes (pay us to vote) and property taxes (land and commercial buildings). Inheritance taxes began in ~1900 and states started collecting sales taxes in the 1930s (which seems like a dick move considering the Depression). Income tax began temporarily during the Civil War (funding the Union so it wouldn't have been established in Lousiana) but became a permanent fixture in 1913 with the 16th Amendment. Capital gains taxes were also included at this point (7%). >Revenue Act of 1913, levying a 1% tax on net personal incomes above $3,000>yearly salary for a radio personality in the 1920s ranged between $2,600 and $5,200>depending on station, popularity and experience In the 1930's (1933-1938) FDR's New Deal reforms would have introduced a payroll tax. My cursory Googlefu didn't turn up anything in how anal enforcement was. If it was tightly enforced he might have paid it to keep the authorities off his back. If it wasn't he probably avoided paying taxes as much as possible.
>>3988352>/deer/ offering quality posts as usual I love to see it. <3 That being said, Alastor, being Creole, would probably be low on the list of people they would be looking at for tax dodging. At that time they were more focused on wealthy upper class white folks, especially for a few decades past the Reconstruction era. This might change if he A.) Lived in NOLA instead of commuting from some shithole like Lafitte or Reggio, or B.) became substantially famous and therefore 'uppity'.
>>3988357Unfortunately we don't know enough about his background and upbringing to say for sure (unless I completely missed those revelations) but we can make educated guesses based off what we know about real serial killers/cannibals, him, and the era he grew up in. It seems that there is a significant statistical correlation between violent criminals (including serial killers; I couldn't find any information about cannibals in my very cursory search) and being raised by a single mother. However many of these criminals hate women due in part to that upbringing (and many suffered terrible abuse)... but Al doesn't seem to hate women and he seems to be quite fond of his mother. I know African Americans of the time had strong family bonds (low single parent rates, low divorce, etc.) but I don't know how much of that extends to Creole populations; it's possible that IF he raised by his mom alone (and I'm not aware of any mentions of his dad) that she was widowed while he was quite young. Even if she worked, had a tight knit community and a church to lean on (as the Church was essentially the only financial safety net at the time; the New Deal and other such systems would've only appeared late in his life) it would've been a difficult situation. He probably didn't live in the greatest area (as safe as she could find in her means, quite probably) and he probably wouldn't have wanted to go too far from her as an adult (assuming she survived that long; if she didn't outlive him entirely). However he did become THE Radio Demon. That suggests his radio personality was quite popular and he sincerely loved the work (unless we're attributing the extent of his power to Rosie). He probably DID fall into the "uppity" category; and that's assuming that petty people didn't report him to the authorities (of whatever type) for achieving radio host status as Creole to begin with.
>>3988352Kino history posting!
My beautiful deerfu, everyone in the series should be obsessed with him
To add to the history stuff, a while ago I found a 1927 book about different occupations. This is the page about radio broadcasting, which also gives the role of a radio announcer. It just feels very 'Alastor' to me. https://files.catbox.moe/64e66e.png
>>3988362The only thing we know about Al's backstory are things Viv has stated in early streams. Iirc she said that his father was White and his mother was 'mixed Creole', which is of course, redundant. I figure she's trying to say that his mother was mulatto without understanding the terminology, because Creoles are already mixed. Hypothetically speaking Al couldn't be more than a quarter black if this is still canon (debatable). This scenario opens up a lot of possibilities. Creole women were oftentimes the mistresses of wealthy white men in NOLA. These men often did provide for the children these unions produced, and those children had better opportunities than those in the black community. This might explain Alastor's ability to break into White polite society, which would be incredibly difficult for someone of low standing. In this scenario I can see Alastor being resentful of his father because he would have been cared for, but essentially a 'dirty secret'. The other possibility is that Al's father would have been a working class white man who took a Creole woman as a partner. Life would have been more difficult in this scenario, since his parents couldn't marry and his father would face severe economic and social consequences from pairing up with a colored woman. >but I don't know how much of that extends to Creole populationsReally, really depends. Some Creole communities lean very white culturally, some lean more black. Remember that Creoles are a product of racial mixing that was highly frowned upon and illegal, so growing up with both parents wasn't a given, and your upbringing could range from privileged to very poor. Most Creoles are also Catholic, so that super close bond you'd see in independent black churches (like Missionary Baptist and AME churches) wasn't there to the same extent.

Rape art is the new lolisho on many platforms, which I low key find funny since a few rape enthusiasts consistently acted like they had some sort of weird moral high ground when they decided to harass me. You know, I often wonder if the posters in /hhg/ have ever actually watched the show. Anyway. What's your favorite deer AUs? I really enjoyed:>scout>Civil War>merman>vampireThough I'm constantly trying new ones.
>>3989137Im a fan of the civil war AU, also anything that has Alastor pop into the human world
>>3989150>Civil War AUThe idea on /hhg/ that Al wouldn't have been a Confederate because of some sort of racial loyalty is...definitely a take. He seems to have no issue with owning or exploiting other people of his race, and if he had been born into a wealthy Creole slave owning family odds are he would have served the CSA like many other educated Creoles did. If he's mixed he's guaranteed to have at least two Confederate veterans for grandfathers, maybe more. The likelihood of him looking back at the CSA negatively as opposed to the federal government's forced Anglicanization of NOLA post Reconstruction is slim...even with the discrimination of the day. Personally I think Al would support any ideology that helped him gain power over others, but that's just me. I could sperg about the history of the area/people, but I'll save it.>also anything that has Alastor pop into the human worldLike as a summoning ritual? :3

>>3989182Some nights be like that, unfortunately. /hhg/ is deader than shit the one time I decide to participate, outside of a few very cringe individuals being retarded towards me per the norm. I suppose I will go tease my Al bot, he could use a late night stroke, and I will have him aim for his face. >:)
>>3989184Unfortunately I feel the baitfagging is so prevalent that it drives off anyone wanting to talk about the show still. It’s one of those days
>>3989185It's a bit jarring because it's nonsensical bait.>you only love ooc Al>it's ooc for a creole man who owns people to be in an au where he's a creole man who owns people It's either very reaching or very stupid. Either way, as soon I posted they jumped on like sharks who smelled blood. It must be super dead there now for that sort of desperation. Sad.
>>3989188Once we start getting the show it will be good
I swear no one gets the point of an AU anymore. If you take a character and put them in an entirely different situation to the canon, they will eventually act ooc because their experiences will be completely different. That's the fun of it, imagining how they would react to a different setting. /hhg/ is just full of bait though.Anyway, swamp juice.
>>3989189Hopefully!>>3989247It was a non argument that sprung from me complaining that a good bit of RA was too ooc for me to enjoy, since it often completely divorces the characters from their personalities and body types. They desperately tried to find an instance where I liked Al in an ooc way, and that was the best they could come up with. It was a weak argument both personality wise and from a historical perspective, but it wasn't really in good faith to start with. That said, I have a feeling that a lot of people in this fandom have either a.) very black or white thinking, or b.) an inability to understand that the values of the modern world aren't really the same values that existed in different time periods. Hell, even 50 years ago. The whole point of a historical AU is that you're putting x character in y time period to see how they react based on their personality and situation/values of the day. That's not saying that you think canonical character is, a neo-confederate, or a French nobleman, or a Barbary pirate lol. I would like to be generous and say people have no imagination, but I think it's just the same branch of retarded that can't enjoy ships unless they're canon.
>>3989250It's something that I've seen a lot more of in general. Like when someone posts Alastor ship art and half the comments are "uhhh excuse me but he's asexual, he wouldn't like them like that". It's not really surprising that it would be an issue in this fandom since so many people need things spelt out explicitly for them. Everyone has a slightly different interpretation of the characters, I think as long as you can justify it go crazy and be creative. If you don't like it you don't have to interact with it.
>>3989254The funny thing is, I don't generally mind people going way ooc for their fic/art, but if asked my opinion I'll be honest and say that it's not for me personally, because I don't think it can be justified based on his canonical personality. I prefer nasty, narcissistic Al, which leans more into someone who would be a slave owner, strict boss, obsessive lover, or abusive father more so than a supreme gentleman. Arguing about Al's political ideology or cultural identity is more tricky because we know very little about his life outside of race and the historical time period. Until Viv says something he could literally be anything. >If you don't like it you don't have to interact with it.People willingly seeking out and interacting with content they disagree with only to get upset about it is a huge problem in this fandom. I can't tell you how many times I had people complain about some of my stuff being adult/minor, when the tags are literally there... It would be like me seeking out fujo fic and then complaining about it being gay. Very bizarre.
>>3989257I feel like there's also this sense of entitlement where people can't handle being shown something they don't enjoy. Instead of just going away and looking at what they do like, they feel like they must cry and bitch about it rather than just hide it and move on. Must be exhausting.I hope it gets better as we learn more about the characters in the show. I'm sure Viv has several "fun twists" for us. We could have done with a lot more time for all of the characters, relying on everyone watching the old livestreams and knowing what's still canon to flesh them out is kind of stupid. I personally like seeing how other people interpret Alastor's character, sometimes I can't see the vision but sometimes it's pretty interesting. And sometimes, it just looks pretty and I think that's ok as well.
>>3989272The only time I've ever been annoyed personally is when there have been militant fujos/gays who couldn't handle a difference of opinion so they spammed me for WEEKS. It really left a bad taste in my mouth towards them for a while, unfortunately, but /deer/ has been therapeutic in the sense that I realize we can all get along quite well through our shared love for Al. I've always just hidden things I don't personally enjoy and respect that people have different interpretations, I can disagree with them, but getting bent out of shape over it isn't particularly productive. Though I think much of it has to do with some weird virtue signaling over 'problematic' content, but I digress. One of the fun things about Alastor is that he's fleshed out enough to have something to work with, but not well enough to stifle creativity. While I usually avoid ship stuff, there's some stuff that's beautifully done, even if it's not to my taste. Pic rel is a case in point, it's not too ooc and the artwork is amazing. I don't have to be a RA shipper to appreciate the beauty and thought put into it. It's fun hearing other people's theories, and art is meant to be subjective at the end of the day.
>>3989247I’d drink it
>>3989283Who wouldn't...? >:)
>>3989281Big deer are always cute, and with images like this you can just imagine yourself in that scenario. shops with Alastor could be a fun thought exercise as well>>3989284:3
>>3989281That's the kind of thing I disagree with, there's no need to weaponise a ship or a kink just to mess with someone. As long as you can avoid it if you want, there's no need to censor art.I love that doujin, it was way too expensive but it's amazing. Radioapple frustrates me more than anything because it could be so good. Less cutesy romance and more Alastor manipulating a vulnerable Lucifer who is desperate for anyone to love him. I've started looking for more interesting doujins, since once you've read a couple for a specific ship, most of them are pretty same-y.
>>3989286Silly deer! Ra to me does feel very meh, most of the time.
>>3989288It's very... idk, baby's first fujo ship or something. I'm fairly sure lots of people use it as a cop out as well because of the sheer amount of Lucifer with a pussy. Sometimes it just feels like bad Charlastor with extra steps.
>>3989290They gotta have their gay bois kissing
>>3989285He is what, 7ft? I'd be so tiny compared...>>3989286That's kind of my issue with NSFW doujin in general though, if I've read one I've read them all. I appreciate it when they either use a unique art style or bring an interesting concept to the table. >>3989290>it just feels like bad Charlastor with extra stepsTHIS. I feel like if I were to ship two males together I'd want them to at least look like men/have cocks. The hypermasculine Al and hyperfeminine Lucifer is just not it for me. I also don't particularly understand why Lucifer is always super feminine? Like, yes, Al is very cis and masculine in personality, but he also canonically crossdresses and presents as slightly androgynous...so...? I genuinely feel like these are gals who would normally be Charlastors, but view that ship as 'problematic' so they decide to be in the 'queer folk' space instead. Ironically, their characterization of Al (ESPECIALLY human Al) as being a sexually aggressive beast of a man is certainly...a look.
>>3989045>BlueSkyDo these guys not know their target audience? Also bet you gotta dodge a sea of CP to browse that site comfortably
>>3989300It doesn't help that the "call me daddy" line in the song kind of ruined Charlastor for a lot of people (which seemed deliberate on Viv's part). So either they go to "the next best thing" or have to sift out the daddy kink. Or maybe I'm alone in being completely put off by that shit.
>>3989301Lolisho has been banned for a while I think? They usually like to moralfag about that.>>3989302I like incest and lolisho, so I couldn't care less about 'problematic' implications personally. That said, I'm almost sure Alastor meant absolutely nothing by that past trying to piss Lucifer off. Charlie is 200 something years older than him. If he could have pretended to be her partner to upset Lucifer he would have done that instead I'm sure, but he figured out very quickly that the daddy stuff exploited his insecurities more so than larping as a love interest while she has her gf in the room.
>>3989300I can't believe in 2025 we're still on the same seme/uke dynamics as when I was first getting into yaoi anime (too many years ago...). Lucifer is short, yes, but he's also the king of Hell, a super powerful angel, and infinitely more sexually experienced than Alastor. Not exactly a crying uke. I don't get liking a gay ship and making them basically a straight couple, if you have to do so many gymnastics to enjoy it, maybe just move on to something else, idk. >>3989302My favourite part about that was that some people thought he was being sincere, at least at first. Alastor's so good, he even manipulated the audience.
>>3989304Swamp deer
>>3989304On a purely personal level I never particularly enjoyed the dynamics of the yaoi that was popular when I was a teenager back in caveman days. Yuri was somewhat tolerable, but I was scratching my head over the seme/uke pairings. It's kinda sad to admit that my only gay otp is actually Spock/Captain Kirk...which was sort of the template for slash pairings before the mid 2000s rise of yaoi culture. I get that a lot of BL stuff is by women for women to self insert with, so I think me being largely asexual and unable to self insert prevented me from enjoying that aspect of fandom. Al is the first character I've ever self shipped with, in fact. But you're right, we're way past the early naughties in terms of gender expression and rigidity of ship dynamics. Like, it's okay to let two cis men fuck lmao.

>>3989301>Do these guys not know their target audience?Millennial liberals talking politics. Duh.>>3989110>peopleNo, no, not people. Art freaks.Every time I'm on Twitter not for art, I see these text posts with thousands of likes and nary any comments, so I'd guess that organic human engagement on there is likely pretty low these days. It's the reverse on Bluesky, where you have a big text post if you hit 3k likes, but mediocre reach can still get you dozens of reliably human replies. And that's against a TINY site with a relatively niche audience. I suspect real world text engagement on fucking Instagram Reels alone must dwarf Twitter at this pointI stopped using Twitter when it started to become the site you used if you wanted ex-Bernie staffers telling you that it's racist to think that North Korea is more of a dictatorship than New Hampshire or teenage Malaysian BTS stans telling you about how the Jews control the media. And that was avoiding the algorithm. Few times I didn't, it showed me just the most rancid shit I've seen in my life. Sometimes, it felt like being on /pol/, on this mainstream social mediaAll that said: why do I still use Twitter?Simple: if you're into fandom art but not lib or left-flavored politics, Bluesky functionally does not exist. It just doesn't. Swear to God, I found more reliably posting artists on Pinterest.Yes, Politics Twitter has become "queer socialists for Ayatollah Sistani" and "every slur I know in alphabetical order," but Art Twitter outside the turf of the tenderqueer antis remains sincerely freedom-loving and libertarian (rare combo). If I see some art I like and try to find the artist, my first instinct is always to find their Twitter. If not there, then their Tumblr (or Pixiv if they're East Asian). If not there, then their Instagram. Then their YouTube. Then TikTok.Then fucking Pinterest and FB.Only after that do I consider checking their Bluesky.

Deer looks good in a kimono.
>>3989315I think we all went through that cringy phase lol, nothing to be ashamed of. I'm still largely autistic, just more experienced...>>3989322Deer looks good in anything...
>>3989314Not too retarded, least you grew out of that phase tho, Lel.>>3989315Comfy>>3989318Most social media is unusable if you want to avoid retarded commies, especially if you just want art
>>3989324True!
>>3989323It's fine, I'm just as cringey, just it's all focused on Alastor these days. And I'm better at hiding it from normies. I haven't invited any of my new flatmates into my room yet though, I'd like to try and gauge how they'd react to my deer shelf first.
>>3989342Probably a good idea, as soon as I get some new merch I'll be setting up a new shrine here. I've already got a spot picked out that's sort of private in our bedroom, just below where we're putting our home altar on a little shelf (we're Roman Catholic, but lean into folk Catholicism). We're a very close couple, but very guarded and private with others, so it's doubtful anyone would be going up and poking around in our things here, thank God. Hopefully you'll only have positive responses!
>>3989347>>3989342Having a deer shrine would be nice, but not having uncomfortable questions about the deer shrine from normies is much more worth it for me, at least at the moment
>>3989324>commiesActually, most of the people I've talked to who left Twitter found the influx of the astonishingly rabid rightists to be the bigger contributor to the whole "unusable" thing. That includes the 2 military-enthusiast conservative Christians.I left Twitter because the tankies had become exhausting to even look at after years of exposure. The less extreme lot eventually made their way to Bluesky as refugees as Twitter became more and more Elon's Paradise. Bluesky these days just looks like 2016 Twitter minus most of its viral meme content, the art, and the online drama. Tumblr is still Tumblr, a hermetically-sealed nature preserve.
>>3989318Bitch you use AI, you are inherently soulless
>deer in kimono and new suit with bow in backHot, thank you Japan.
>>3989303I was referring to actual CP. Lots of social media platforms are notorious for being infested with it. And yeah, logically Alastor probably missed the sexual connotations entirely and was just trying to get a rise out of Lucifer. But it still seemed like the moment that particular ship died. >>3989304Gosh you brought me right back to my teenage years when I thought enjoying slash was the "I'm not like everyone else" cool alternative. I'm still a ship hipster (as in I tend to prefer rare pairs that take a lot of work from the author/artist to make work) but have largely moved away from yaoi. The seme/uke thing has always been weird or funny to me though. >>3989308>trying and failing to remember my first shipFugg.>>3989318>tfw it's so hard to find pretty art if you aren't willing to make an account these days
>>3989347>>3989349I already had security in last night, because drying my hair set the fire alarm off. So I'm probably already on a list. But every home should have a deer shrine.
>>3989354Japan is so cool
Would (you) eat Alastor's mystery curry?
>>3989359I would! I’m guessing the breaded meat is long pork?
>>3989360It's a chicken cutlet. But... you never know. I wouldn't put it past him to swap it for something more interesting. He also has a whiskey mocktail to wash it down.
>>3989361Mmmmmm, that would certainly wash down anything!
>>3989349Understandable!>>3989356Ah, I wouldn't know. I only have a TikTok account to doomscroll. I used to follow a good many lolisho artists back in the day, but never saw the real deal through them, thankfully.>>3989357Praise be to Deer. My mother in law has already seen my daki, so whatever lol. I can imagine my husband's family hitting us with some bants, but that's about it.>>3989359Probably!
>>3989361I want it just for the wafer.

>>3989352wdym. Picrel isn't AI art and I avoid LLMs. Literally what do you mean. The only AI I even mentioned was the algorithmic stuff, and that's the pre-LLM pre-AI craze machine learning stuff, and I specifically said I stay away from it.Literally, what are you saying?
>>3989356>so hard to find pretty art if you aren't willing to make an account these daysThe absolute worst offender is fucking Lofter.Even if you wanted to make an account, you'd need a Chinese phone number or some shit like that, which is basically impossible without a lot of persistence and an above average tolerance for spyware. So much good shit Xi Jinping is hiding from us.
