Why dont people watch 2d animation at the theater anymore?Sinbad killed DreamWorks 2d animation and Princess and the frog killed Disney 2d.
>>152118673Hahah
>>152118685DE LADO
We've just forgotten how to do good 2D animation. We have it all documented, but nobody born after 1990 can read or sit through an educational film from the 50s.
>>152120875Be the change.
Combination of intentional self-sabotage by the big names as well as that the general movie-going audience finds 2d animation somehow less mature than 3d animation. Never really understood that but whatever.
For a time, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi was Cartoon Network's biggest hit, being the next Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab in terms of how much of a craze it was, yet despite this, the craze stopped less than 2 years later. Just months after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day float, the two DVDs coming out, a toyline being released, and having a GBA game, the show was canned with 5 episodes unaired in the states. The last thing ever made for the show were costumes which were released in October 2006, but were being made months prior and by the time those were released, Cartoon Network stopped airing it periodI'd compare it to how CatDog was a craze with how it was everywhere back then along with Rugrats and yet, despite that, CatDog stopped at just 68 episodes, but atleast CatDog reran on Nick til like 2005, while Puffy was dropped less than 2 years after it came out
>>152120112[citation needed]
>>152120486I don't even get why Teen Titans stopped at 65 episodes with how huge it was. It had a successful toyline, had a few video games, and it had strong viewership
Sometimes it's just the suits being suits. I do think it would have continued to do well, but it really does boil down to them being idiots. They're the same people who called Billy and Mandy a hateful fart cartoon, and proceeded to greenlight Problem Solvers, and that entire retarded Live Action era.
>>152120616I went by how everywhere they were at the time. Puffy was everywhere in late 2005. It was huge
>>152120676They were also the idiots who greenlit then turned down The Aquabats! Super Show, despite the fact it would have fit Cartoon Network better than the live action stuff they aired since atleast Aquabats was like a live action cartoon
>released only 6 months apart from each otherDreamWorks is such an unpredictable studio
>>152112354I had to check. I swear I remembered Bee Movie being from 2000 or 2001.
>>152119215Neither Pixar was.
>>152120234No
>>152120260You are delusional. Pixar was massively overrated in the 2000s and many of those movies doesn't hold very well on rewatching.
>>152112354
This show was huge in 1999 and had tons of merchandise and it was basically Nick's biggest Nicktoon behind Rugrats, but in 2000, the show was cancelled after 68 episodes. Meanwhile, Wild Thornberrys (which premiered the same year) was renewed up to 84 episodes (later getting 7 more, making it 91 total) and got a theatrical movie. CatDog fell from popularity dramatically in 2000 with how Nick didn't renew it for more episodes
>>152120278Fairly OddParents according to Butch, had someone pushing for it at all times which is how it lasted until 2017, despite it never reaching CatDog levels of popularity, let alone Rugrats and SpongeBob
>>152119995It was forced
>>152120278I think part of the reason is that Spongebob and FOP synergize well with a similar style of comedy but at the same time do not compete in premise.Meanwhile ATLA is this anime-esque action show that didn't fit what some people at Nickelodeon wanted the channel to be.
>>152119995I guess someone in charge at Nickelodeon hated CatDog. It still feels weird it got cancelled in 2000 after being nominated for favorite cartoon at the 1999 and 2000 Kids Choice Awards
>>152119995Nick, high afyer the successes of Ren and Stimpy, Rugrats, and Rocko, were 100% sure Catdog was going to be the next big thing. So they made a huge episode order upfront and ordered a shitton of merchandise for the show.Unfortunately, because the eoisode order was so high, production was notoriously rushed. So scripts weren't polished as much as they could be. This resulted in the show never reaching the highs of its predecessors. So while the show did just OK in ratings, it was never the runaway hit Nick expected it to be. That's shy it seemed to after such a huge presence and die out suddenly- Nick bever really pushed for more merch and tie-ins after that initial batch.Fun fact, Nick was so confident in Spongebob they almost repeated the same mistake. But I think it was Mr. Lawrence or someone who worked on Spongebob said to Nick, "Give us a lower episode order, and more tine to refine scripts so they can be the best they can be. Don't repeat what I went through with Catdog." And it paid off.

I don't know why they treat losing a limb like a big deal when there are so many ways to regrow a limb in a world of super powers and super science.

>>152118623Prodigy is doing well for himself. I mean, he's bi, which means he's gay, which means he'll never be cool again, but he's getting featured. Most recently in NYX, and soon in X-Men United.
Sabretooth
>>152110464That's what makes him great.
>>152119595I hate when writers backtrack on a twist just because the audience guessed it. But I guess in Logan and Victor’s case I don’t mind it, them not being related makes their rivalry work more especially for Sabretooth. It sells how much of a piece of shit he is that he’ll just go after this random guy for no reason besides “It’d be mad funny”
>>152117231Apparently originally "assassin" but changed at the last minute to "killer" only for it to be botched.

>>152120709It was easily the best. Wish we had a whole movie of Harry Canyon. Sure, there’s the Fifth Element, but I mean an actual Harry Canyon movie.
>>152115034I still laugh at the fact that Blue Oyster Cult forgot which part of the movie they were supposed to make a song for so they just made an entire album and sent it to the studio. Meaning there are technically two whole soundtracks for this movie. This album would later be released as Fires of Unknown Origin.
