Meanwhile they champion adorkable nerds or guys like Huey in the Boys who are thin and not very masculine, not the kind to pursue women or live a life of sexual adventure. I think its a good idea but I feel like this is why you dont see it, most artists would be considered brave for pursuing this. In anime you do have this sometimes but again its like a nerd and the joke is that he lands in these situations not a suave cool guy getting into them on purpose. Its funny the closest I can even think is maybe early James Bond but with the action skipped over and just focusing on dangerous and erotic relationships with women. There are some visual novels with this concept though, in fact romcom visual novels might be the only genre where I see this play out. As in the protagonist is a guy and he just gets into sexual mishaps everywhere he turns but more often then not these devolve into porn not cheesecake.

I definitely see attractive "actor agency" people in ads more often than I see ugly people. and in this Grubhub ad specifically I think you can be more or less certain the people are ugly to create a sense of comedy. They're doing tacky dances and shaking their bloated butts and they're being gluttonous, I don't think it would work as well if we had, say, sexy characters doing that.Like I can't even say that "things are ugly on purpose now, and only now" because when we were kids we had stuff like Cow and Chicken or Rugrats and other shows that clearly exaggerated ugly facial features for comedy's sake.
