>>151888944wdym? Shrek 2 holds up surprisingly well for doing a lot more human designs despite being one of the earliest CGI films attempting some sort of realism.

It's pretty hit or miss, honestly. Some of the stories are good. The art is not that great, and that's something that's really important.

Why don't writers know what to even do with her anymore? For quite some years she's basically just been 'woman' and portrayed as being over her head with everything going on.
>>151892548>I'm sure that's the culprit. Uh huh.Yeah. It is. The longer you deny what is happening, the more manga will curiously, for no reason, inexplicably, mysteriously, dominate the market.
>>151891560purple costume should be back along with long hair.
>>151892472>Maybe if Catwoman had more motivations than either Batman's romance object or petty theft then she would be more interesting. She already has motivations. She's a thrill seeker trying to distance herself from her past as a runaway while also maintaining a lifestyle that allows her to help others, even if she won't always admit the latter. The real issue is that writers keep bouncing her between flighty thief, generic anti-hero and Batman's situationship like they're mutually exclusive when they should just be aspects of her character. The old guard of writers used to understand this, but writers these days can't even spell "nuance" so it's the entirety of her character now.
>>151893310This. Batman's switched back to his classic look multiple times in the past 20 years. Why can't Catwoman?
What about a BBW Catwoman and Batman is an Architect, lol?

>>151893285This isn't some drama that should make you think. It's an animated kids film. Name one movie where that allegory adds to it in terms of entertainment instead of causing people to roll their eyes from being lectured. If you're thinking Zootopia, that was successful despite it, not because of it: that's the one part people criticize about it to this day.

>>151893423wow so with that I found a storytime thread https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/140102690/#140102690 and honestly I wasn't prepared
>>151890532Alternatively, I'd argue there's no major reason for them not to be animals. Outside of the general appeal of their designs, their animals play into their characteristics somewhat. Like the possum family being very meek, the turtle holing away in his home, Sam herself being an apex predator who's strong enough to overpower others.Moreso, I think the Richard Scary aesthetic is necessary for the tone it sets. Sam's entire motivation is blending into a small peaceful town where the idea of a serial killer living among them is unthinkable (something demonstrated many times throughout the story). The reason the "what if cozy children's storybook was a dark serial killer setting" works in this particular instance is because it reflects the outlook of the townspeople. At the start of the story everything is idyllic and peaceful, something even Sam appreciates (albeit for different reasons), and seeing that happy life get irreversibly poisoned ends up associating otherwise peaceful concepts with fear and sadness. I'd say this is also why the city looks remarkably more gritty despite sharing the same art style; the RS aesthetic needs a friendly happy town to really work out, and the story effectively tears down that image over time.

How might mainline and Absolute Batman interact in the future for their inevitable crossover? Would they admire or condone the others methods? Would mainline Batman admonish Absolute Batman of his crusade considering his Martha still lives? Also did anyone else think Absolute Bruce was oddly more civil than usual when meeting Absolute Wonder Woman?

>>151891788I can’t imagine he’d love the mutilation but he’s forgiven crazier batmen. I’ve been loving absolute because he completely sidesteps the “no kill” autism that’s defined every major Batman story for the worse since killing joke. The answer to that should only ever be “this is a comic book.” There’s no dragging of boots or moralizing, Absolute madlad just does what’s fun for the story.
